I wear Opal (my birthstone) and have a crazed one which is truely beautiful and full of magic. I have some beautiful yellow amber which I should wear more often.
My husband gave me a large turquiose nugget years ago
These are all heavy with power and protection but over the years I've found some beautiful stones of the common garden variety or on the beach and carried them with me for years of luck - you just know when you handle them what they are capable of

Opal is my birthstone too, Sul, but the only one I possess is tiny and in a ring which I inherited from my lovely Nan. Opals are so powerful and I'm told that the only people who should use them are those who have them as a birthstone. Mine doesn't seem to have that raw power though, it's just full of love, probably because of where it came from as, not only was it Nan's, but it was the last gift to her from my equally loving Gramps before his death. If I'm feeling down because something has gone wrong in my life I only have to look at it to feel calm again and I always wear it to things like job interviews and hospital visits as I feel so protected and surrounded by love. This probably goes to show that we have as much influence upon stones and crystals as they have upon us.

Mines Aventurine. i love it.
I get over emotinal often, so i have a negative Aventurine, so when i have to cut off my emotions i can.
but as soon as i don't need it. it goes straight into its own bag.

i adore crystals also with being a jeweller i work with alot of stones.
i love sapphires,but i dont think i could choose a fave i love them all! lol
i have a large collection a few rare ones i keep safe.

You're welcome. @hedge: I didn't really know I had an affinity for salamanders and turtles till I noticed how many I've collected. They just seem to gravitate to me. I've got lots of stones and crystals...some I don't know what they are  My favorites are my clear quartz, rose quartz, rutilated quartz, malachite, labradorite, lapis lazuli and of coarse amethyst...
I have two one inch double terminated crystals I carry when I'm drivng to help "keep me here"; one is clear quartz the other is smokey quartz. I gave my Dr a fossilized clam shell to help her retain "ancient knowledge"...she needs all the help she can get when it comes to me.
This one is igneous but what I don't know !
"His" other side has a face also, but is shy !

I couldnt possibly list my crystals, as they are their own beings, some stay some travel off to other friends, some return, some new ones often find a place here too....
I do have ones that do stay tho, and one, i kept trying to gift and it refuses to leave, so it now stays by default.
i will find photos and post........
crystals i have been studying since childhood, but really found a close affinity just 15 years ago..

My Favoutire crystals are:
Rose Quartz
Ameterine
Moonstone
Amethyst
Clear Quartz
There are many others, but these are the ones that i have on my person at all times.. (well at least 1 of these are on my person at all times.)
The crystal i carry depends on my mood and feeling of the day. They all go into a small dish at the end of the day and in the morning I close my eyes and pick one at random from the bowl, which ever feels the best at the time goes with on my days activities.

When someone asks what my favorite crystal/stone is, I have a bit of trouble coming up with an answer. Because quartz comes in so many varieties, I usually will say quartz. Here is a list of just some of the varieties. I found the list on the internet. Of quartz varieties, my favorites would be amethyst, tigers eye, citrine and rose.
