When I say Darker magick I dont mean curses or hexes, I mean the darker forces. Personally I think a witch should have experience in both light and dark, but I wanted you guys to give me your thoughts on it. Ex-- I know a vampiric witch. He absorbs your negative energy and then gives it back to you as possitive. But he cant go into crowds because he starts to feed on peoples energy without realizing it. He focusses on studying darker energies because that is what he can tap into easier. Again, whats your views on darker magicks?

To some degree it's a matter of semantics. Light / white magic vs dark / black magic High vs low. And weather or not you follow the rule of three and the rede will decide which side you see yourself working on.
I think of magic as a beam of light and I'm standing in the middle. If I look to the left or right the beam goes on infinitum. If I draw energy from either side, an affect will occur on the other in a way that I may or may not be aware of. In order to maintain the balance, energies must be drawn from both sides simultaneously.
Taking that thought a step further, consider that instead of a beam of light, it's a ball of light/energy and each of us stands at the center of his/her/it's own ball. Our energies are connected yet separate, hence our ability to affect or interact with each other or every other thing.

i dont understand why ppl say we should curse as well as heal to learn both forces. Dus that mean we should hurt ppl physically as well as helping them physically so we understand both emotions?
I only do spells to heal and protect myself and others. What's the point of practising others just so we can expierience if it hurts others. Thats the motive loads of murderers use: "because I wanted to know how it felt like."
Just my personal views on it.

Im not talking about curses or hexes. Both forces come from different forms of the Goddess. What Im talking about is taking in the negative feelings in the world, and then reversing it to make it possitive. For example: Lets say someones having a bad day and they are starting to get angry. So you absorb his anger into yourself and then send it back to him as calm. The only way I can think of to describe it is as a water filter. Dirt goes in, clean refreshing water comes out.

I think that it is all intention. Since magic is driven by intent that dictates the alignment of your working rather than any preconceived notions on specific spells. If you use techniques that are widly thought to be negative or dark for good intent does that not make it good in a sense? Also if you use techniques that are thought of as positive or light with bad intent doesnt that make it bad? I think trying to group things into good or evil is only useful if you are attempting to judge an individual or his/her work. We should not be so close-minded to think that bad or evil workings dont have their place, there is a time and place for all things, its when you start convincing yourself it is alright to use these powers all the time that the real danger comes. If you must, be vigilant, be aware of and honest about who you are. The most important thing is to know who you want to be really... if you want to be a big bad then i guess its up to you, but if you dont, then dont allow yourself to be seduced by such work.

I agree, it is all intention. My friend was attempting to make a love stone for me, because I was feeling lonely, and when she made it she was thinking of her friend that she's had feelings for and vice versa. Well, she carried the stone around with her, thinking to give it to me when she saw me, and she ended up hooking up with her friend. I think she controlled her friend, whether it was on purpose or not, and controlling someone is never right.
I wonder about negative magic. When I'm angry with someone, I find myself thinking of curses or hexes. But, I'm not sure I could ever go through with it.

There are times when a touch of the dark side is necessary

I always thought that 'black magik' was magik intent on harming others. As a goodie i find this disturbing. But to turn bad into good is good. But I also believe that bad can't exist without good and vice versa. A lot of people would be out of jobs if good/bad dominated the earthly plane. All about balance.

I think you should be educated in it but I personally dont agree with practicing it. I feel you should be educated in all kinds of areas because i totally dissagree with the prase "what you dont know cant hurt you." lol

Once again it's all a matter of semantics.
If I use magic to destroy something, that's considered a dark use of magic. But if that something is a cancer cell.....
If I use magic to aid a farmer having problems with his crop, that is considered white magic because it's perceived as a "good deed". But if that crop is Opium Poppies....
Yes intent has some influence on perception of the deed and how you might attempt to classify the act for your own peace of mind. But in truth, if you are going to use magic, there will be ramifications that can not be known to the user. If you attempt to draw energy with only one influence, nature will seek a balance. With or without your knowledge or awareness and with desirable or undesirable results. If you can set aside your concepts of good and bad, negative and positive, and just focus on the balance, on the center and draw upon that source, your weaving will be stronger and you have less chance for peripheral random effects.

I'll admit as I became closer to the crone, Hekate, I became a little nervous. Just remember that darkness doesn't neccisarily equal evil,, and that everything must ballance.

Yes those are very wise words. The night is dark, that is when the lady of the moon comes to see her children. Just because something is dark, doesnt mean its evil. Thank you for those words RoseMckenery.
