What makes a person want to become a witch? I have read above that someone did not become a witch by choice but it chose them. I would say that sounds about right. I am going to add that for me it goes a bit deeper I feel like I have come home. This is what I have been working towards all of my life, I just am. Why did you decide to become a witch? The more I read about Wicca and Witch craft * I am both* the more it sounded and felt right. It was not an over night thing but it was a gradual process, one that seem to run away with me once I said yes. What do you get out of being a witch? Happiness, contentment, satisfaction, love, feelings, and many many more things. It is most certainly worth it simply because it is what is right for me. Lovely post, i totally agree with the happiness, contentment and more. As i said before i am now content and happier than i could ever have imagined 13 year ago and i thank everyone on this forum for allowing me to spread my happiness, but especially Hedge who is a very special person Matt

I don't actualy consider my self a witch, but I've been called one several time and have always taken it as a compliment. I chose my path because it makes sense to me. I'm a Brittish native, I've never realy bought the whole monothieisum thing, I have a deep interest in history, I respect the land and the ways of nature and you just try and keep me away from shiney silver celtic trinkets! ;D

What makes a person want to become a witch?Several people have answered this with "this path chose me" and I think that is pretty much true for most people. I don't think anyone sets out one day saying "I think I'll become a witch" This is a lifestyle that we find ourselves on as we grow in our search for spiritual guidance Why did you decide to become a witch?I have witches/warlocks/magicians or whatever name you want to give them, in my family history. More recent generations (mainly my grandmother and mother) pushed aside and denounced these ancestors as frauds and fakes. They have disavowed the traditions of their ancestors by being drawn into Christianity. I was raised in a Christian home, but I felt like I didn't belong there. I questioned the theology of the churches I went to, and was never given answers to the questions I asked. So I decided to find my own path to spiritualism, and only recently found that I was actually on the Wiccan path. What do you get out of being a witch?I get a sense of being. I feel more in touch with myself than I ever have before. I have my Creator, Goddesses, and Gods that teach me who I am. People I associate with now accept me for who I am without criticizing me or trying to change me. I feel free of the binding mentality that hypocrites pose in everything they do. Guess thats my thoughts

[glow=green,2,300]What makes a person want to become a witch?[/glow] i think people decide to follow the witch because of the fullfillment it puts in their hearts. not only just the excitement but also in the spiritual sence. or to feel they are a part of something important.
[glow=red,2,300]Why did you decide to become a witch?[/glow] i see the connection witches have with the world around them. and i want that sense of 'being' i guess. i become excited in the presence of natural suroundings, and i want to make something of that. i do come from a chrstian family, and yes i do love my god, and actually i feel paganism is the same thing just translated differentely. but i could be wrong.. but anywhoo0o i've always felt like i needed something. and through studying the craft i've felt it.
[glow=purple,2,300]What do you get out of being a witch?[/glow] the excitement. enlightenment. meditation. a spiritual uplifting. a new outlook ;D and meeting so many openminded and understanding people!!

I get what people say about wicca coming to them. I just kinda found out about it and it felt right. It seems very natural and it seems part of my history being british and all. I just love the feelings it gives me. It makes me feel very small, like im part of something huge. Its a good feeling

I'm still learning about witchcraft. I'm afraid I might not be dedicated enough to practice anything fully but so far it's incredibly interesting to me.

q What makes a person want to become a witch? r If an ind visual has not come from a family background of witches, then at some time point in life that he or she will be spiritually pointed in the right direction of their path, some might consider this a calling from the goddess. A person may in fact naturally start dabbling into magic, without a teacher or magic guide books. q Why did you decide to become a witch? r I consider my spiritual path a calling from the goddess. I started seeing things differently in life, other than what outside religions were trying to force their views onto me. I was already casting spells and connecting with the natural elements at will, but does this makes me a witch? No. Celebrating the sabbats, attuning myself with nature, honoring my deities, while striving to maintain balance in my own life, protecting those in need, and following the Wiccan Rede, makes me the witch that I am. q What do you get out of being a witch? r spiritual enlightenment

I don't see it as becoming a witch. I feel that everyone has always held the power and magick...it's just that we have forgotten. We're the hidden children. We have to find ourselves. I have always known there was something else out there. I have always believed whatever I wished would come true. It wasn't until I was about 12 or 13 years old that I found out it was an actual religion. I would go to church, a christain church, and nothing seemed right. Not until I came in touch with the Lord and the Lady. Now I know I'm in the right spot.

What makes a person want to become a witch?
For me it meant taking control of my life instead of letting it in the hands of chance or at the whim of some deity.
Why did you decide to become a witch?
Same answer as above.
What do you get out of being a witch?
Satisfaction that I am in control and that I get out of life and my magick practice what I put into it. I have no one to blame or answer to but myself and a sense of responsibility that I never had to have before.

I wish I could say I was born a witch but....I was born in a Christian family. At the age of 14yrs I had a Ouija board and dabbled in candles but was convinced what I was doing was EVIL, and I stopped and continued in the study of Christ. Became a Thumper-Evangelical Christian. Bring people back to the Baptist way of thinking. Than I thought I might be able to help though people who where Pagan/Witch. And I started to study paganism and the beliefs of witches, and as I study I found more truths in their way of thinking. I knew that Christianity wasn't the only way to the truths, and there was more beliefs In God/dess. And I decided that magick is just like prayer, with more Personification through the empowering thought and natural symbolism and ancient Deity's that are still here. I been a witch now and forever more. I don't know which way is better I hope other people have a good understanding of who you are through good studying Blessed be.

I'm not sure if I am a witch or not. I'm not sure if that is what one would call a Santeria Lukumi practitioner. I am sure that some people would call me one, but I am equally sure other's would not.
I wanted to become a practitioner of the Santeria, because I needed some protection from some very powerful negative magick that was being aimed at me and my family, and I felt it could help.
I get a lot of peace of mind from being Santeria. We walk with the spirits of our ancestors on a daily basis, and it is very soothing to me to have them near me helping me out all of the time. They are wonderful to have around.
