I got attuned to Reiki last year...... what a wonderful experience it was! I'm not saying that it made a drastic change in my life but I've noticed that I'm calmer in myself and after the last episode of illness I had, a self treatment every so often works wonders lol.

Definately recommend it to anyone, I would say first go along for a treatment and speak to the practitioner. There are quite a few Reiki Masters that offer training, but if, as was the case with me, I got let down so many times by one master that I decided to be attuned by distance. Believe me, the experience is the same as being attuned in person, though some Reiki people look down on distance attunements, I say its not, I got the same level of help and assistance before each attunement as I would have if I had gone to a workshop.

I have both I and II attunements - and had them in the same week (two days apart) i was told that a day at least between to settle the knowledgement so to speak.

It is an amazing feeling, once attuned. Something changes and it's like unleashing some hidden power - truelly amazing.

A very good friend of mine is a Reiki Master (she was the one who attuned me), so I get lots of 'top-ups', which is brilliant! She taught me how to do a certain type of treatment (can't remember the name now), and it was just awesome. The energy that I was receiving and giving was so powerful that at one point it made me stumble backwards ............. it just rocked my whole body.

Well, I am getting level 1 next weekend and level two two weekends later. So no, that "rule" does not always apply. I dunno who creates rules like this.

As I understand it, this 'rule' is a safeguard for your body, as the energies that come in on each level need time to be fully absorbed and stabalised. Reiki energies are powerful and cause changes in your own energy-body and can be exhausting if too much is given all at once. More than one attunement can be given in a short space of time, but most Reiki Masters advocate that your body is given the time to adjust to each level of energy before another one is given.

Seems pretty cool this reiki stuff, read up a bit on it on that there internet, where i was reading it said that attunements werent entirely necessary, but recommended. Do they just teach you how to do it better and keep your aura clean of negative energies? Could i just learn from a book? Also how much $$$ does an attunement normally cost?

I am glad that you posted this. I had never heard of it. I read up on it from that holisticonline. I really feel that this will help me. I set up an appointement at a local Well By Nature. I was so schocked to learn that the one performing it for me was my old English Literature teacher. My appointement is next Thursday. I will let you know how it worked for me.

I had my first Reiki attunement in February this year and my second in March. I didn't feel much with the first attunement as I had Reiki done on me everyday for a week before hand and had a huge healing crisis, but the blessing I was given after my session flowed through me from head to toes and flowed back up my body. It was incredible. My second attunement knocked me off my feet for about 20 minutes. It felt like my energy body had split from my physical body and it took that long to realign. I couldn't even see straight.

I go to Reiki Shares one a month where Reiki practitioners treat each other with several practitioners treating one person all at the same time. It is a fabulous experience.

im a reiki master i learnt it through my near by collage and met my own master at a spiritual church later to learn herself was a witch.
i get to go to her classes and over see the other students learn and develop there reiki they get a buzzz when they get attuned.
we also learnt diffrent ways to bring reiki into your life and to use it for more than just healing like sending it to a situtaion.
When im in class sometimes i get a treatment or a distance one or i just sit and enjoy the reiki flowing in the class.

I have been looking in on Reiki for a while now. And yesterday I was playing with the kids, which is my summer job at a day camp. We were playing, when I Junior Counciler tripped under a rock and fell on her shoulder. We moved everyone out, but no one knew what was wrong. So I wrote a Healing symbol in the air, and for a second it looked like butterflies in my minds eyes. Then she stopped crying and felt better a minuet later, when I told my friend, she was just shocked, and so was I!

I think Reiki's fascinating! I've never been to a session but I really want to! When I move to teh city next year I'll definitely be looking into it.

Since February, I have had two Reiki attunements, completely detoxed my body, totally changed my eating habits, started attending Kundalini Yoga classes three times a week, and started a holistic healing business for pets.

The Goddess has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams! *wipes away a tear*
