My boyfriend asked me this the other day, and it made me think. So I think it'd be a good idea for people to also say whay their pentacle means to them.
Here's my response:
Its a symbol of my faith and beliefs. It's alos a method of communication, as it helps pagans and like minded people to find each other, and it's done that for me a few times. I guess to me its a reminder of my beliefs and o tool of connection to the earth, as the pentacle is also a symbol of earth. It's also a symbol of the goddess, and that means something to me. It symbolises the human body, whish I think is important, and it reminds me to look after it. It's a symbol of the elements and spirit, which ties in with earth. I chose it in silver, not gold, because silver is a symbol of the goddess. It's plain because my beliefs should remain simple. It's also a symbol of direction, and a journey for me.
And that, in essence, is what I told my bf. Who, btw is Christian and was curious.
So to everyone else with a pentacle/pentagram, What does it mean to you???

Christians have their own form of a pentical, being the crucified christ. The cross is the four cardinal directions with christ raised above them.
For me the pentical is the four cardinal directions with the top point being spirit, yet forming a part of the union.

I have a silver pentacle as the center piece of my altar. It symbolizes the embodiment of the Goddess as Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. It also symbolizes the World Tree as I visualize myself standing with my feet rooted in the ground with my arms reaching up to the heavens.
I draw the banishing and protecting pentagrams over my husband to protect him harm and to awaken in him all he needs to be awake and alert as he travels on his job. So the pentagram is a magickal symbol in that I trust the power it represents.
I used to wear my pentacle all the time, but now I wear either one of my Goddess pendant necklaces or a simple stone/crystal necklace. Wearing the pentacle was always an in-your-face thing for me. I like to think I've matured a little.

I wear my pentacle all the time, even to my christian school that says you cant wear anything other than a cross ( I dont think theyve seen it yet ). I understand your idea about the in-your-face-thing PO, but I guess I just haven't matured yet Also I don't have any other things to put around me neck, no other pendants, so I'm still happy with this one. WS, why'd you spell it pentical??

I wear my pentacle all the time... I understand your idea about the in-your-face-thing PO, but I guess I just haven't matured yet. I personally wore my pentacle with an in-your-face attitude. I hope I didn't imply that anyone wearing a pentacle is flaunting Paganism.

First off, I know it is off topic, but what exactly is WoW about? I never got that game
Secondly, The pentacle for me represents Fire, Water, Earth, Metal and Wood, the five cardinal elements for Japanese mythology. The wind is represented by four spirits overseeing the earth itself. My part in Paganism is Greek/Japanese/Wicca all mixed together like cookie dough...yum....now I'm hungry. ;D But I am thinking about getting a tattoo of the pentacle when I am older. (Still debating between Nose Piercing and Tattoo, but that's what I'd get if I got one.)

World of Warcraft, it's an internet based first person gaming format. You can take on the role of Warlock, Mage, Rogue, warrior, paladin, druid & Shaman. Each has unique abilities. You can be either a male or female character and fight with either the Alliance or the Horde. There are 5 races on each side. On the Alliance side, there are Human, Dwarf, Elves, etc and on the Horde side, Or cs, and other nasties. The world consists of a number of large Island continents divided into a number of zones or states. Within each zone you encounter creatures of varying strength and abilities controlled by the game. You can also encounter opposing forces controlled by other players.
The idea of the game is to take on quests or challenges. With every fight you gain experience points and coin and/or treasures which you can either use or sell at the auction house.
Each player starts off at level one, gains experience through combat and exploration, attains riches and advances through the levels. You gain better weapons, armor and learn new magic spells as you go. With the most recent expansion, I understand that those levels can now exceed 80 (thats a lot of on line time and some serious gaming)
I've been at it for about 6 weeks and have a number of characters that I've tried. My favorite is a Paladin currently at level 39.
The initial game costs around $40 Canadian, then to play you log onto the web site which costs an additional $19 per month to gain access. Think of that. There's an estimated 11,000,000 players right now and growing every month.
Hope that give you a small taste of the game. I can fully understand how it can become addictive. The need to advance is unreal. And if you join a guild (almost a union of players) you have meetings and tasks that you must achieve and maintain or get kicked out. Ooooooooh, the pressure.

Once when I was an Infantryman in Viet Nam, 1969, I used to draw one on my shirt so I could tell it from all the rest. We did not put names or anything else on them. I had it on when some foolish young man(is there any other kind?) tossed a half a crate of hand grenades into a trash fire next to where we were working and the grenades started to explode. Like everyone else I jumped into a shelter, usual I like to think I do not follow the herd but sometimes it is a pretty good idea. After the all clear I checked myself over and found some holes drilled clean through my shirt, side to side. But not a mark on me. That was before I became a witch. But to me it has always meant and will forever mean Life and Good Luck.
