Pretty much. What I am Watershield are tring to say is the energy is neither black or white it is all in a person's intent. IN other words what do they want to accomplish with the spell/energy they are using. Even a very nasty person can do good when he/she wants. Just as a very nice and kind person can do something bad if they want. It is all in the intent, not the energy/magic. Magic/energy is actually very begin.

I practice as I like, and do exactly what I want to do, because I want to do it, according to my own personal ethics. I curse, heal, bless, and bind, according to my own needs... I learn as much as I can about every aspect of magic, and use it to my advantage, if necessary. I discount nothing and put absolutely no limits on what I might do or not do, because I don't see the future well enough to absolutely determine is it might be needed in a particular circumstnce...

I like the comparison to electricity in a different thread.
Electricity can create light, or keep a person alive on life support. But it can also be the reason you're on life support in the first place.
Electricity isn't black or white, and neither are magic or witches (unless you associate like that).
Personally, I'm just 'witch'.

I have this same topic on another board and was trying to explain
how and what I learned about being a witch. Thirteen years ago I
had no coven, teacher, or the internet to point the way for me. I
told them I walk the path between (white and black for want of
better words). Meaning I do what needs to be done in each situa-
tion. Light or dark, good or bad, white or black, what ever you want to call it it is all the same. I was told I need to go back and relearn some things, because I see energy as being white instead of colors. Well I don't mind criticism or relearning things
when needed. But we all have our experiences as far as magic is
concerned. And they should not be dismissed because they do not match someone elses.

I think a lot of people put too much emphasis on what type of magic something is as opposed to whether or not it achieves the needed results.
I don't care if it's purple sparkle with orange polka dots magic, if it works it's what needs to be done.
I undertand the wiccan belief of "and it harm none" and for the most part I agree with that, except I'm more of a "only harm those who harm me" kind of witch.

When someone tells me that "that" is red and filled with this type of energy or "this" is blue energy or that you must use these colors for candles and they go in this order....I just smile and know that they haven't got one smick of an idea of their own. They've spent all their time reading fluffy books and are just echoing the gibberish.

thus far what i have learn and what i understand (and i can be way off) black or white .. there is no such thing in magic ... that magic is more of a personal thing. just as i am who i am and really i am a nice person (white) but i do have a temper and when the need arise i can and will protect, get even, what ever..(black) but is it really black to even the score. just my 4 cents worth from some one just learning.

Hi theyd, no hunn I don't think in terms of white or black. That's just for a reference, like right
or left. For me it just means I will go as far as I need to in whatever situation I am in. I would
not harm someone unless backed into a corner or in imminent danger, or my family was threat
ened. That doesn't make me a bad person or you a bad person.
