As you are probably aware, many witches use certain items when casting spells~ cords, candles, wand, athame, broom, cauldron and chalice ~ but these are just 'tools' that help them to focus on the matter at hand. They are not essential. What is happening within the witch's mind is far more important.
To be a successful spellcrafter, you need to be confident and possess the ability to visualize and focus on the desired outcome. Not for just a minute or two, but until you get that desired result. Find your intent, and work toward manipulating and projecting your energies in order to get that result. Magick doesn't end at the ritual/words spoken, it's a continuing process.
Be more mindful of the actions and energies of others around you, as well as your own. Take more notice of all those little 'coincidences' and opportunities that the universe is continually presenting to you...and don't be afraid to act upon them.
Magick seldom happens 'overnight.' It may take some time for a spell to take effect. When it is meant to happen, it will happen in it's own time. It may take effect immediately, or it may take weeks or even months.
Be very careful and precise when wording your spell and be very specific in your intentions, because whatever you throw out, will come back to you, in one way or another. Always, always be 'prepared' for repurcussions...whether they be good or bad. Doing so, means you will never be caught off guard/surprised when they do happen. You would do well to apply this logic to everyday life too...think before you act.
Some witches find that grounding oneself before crafting a spell, will make the magick more effective. Grounding helps to make the body's energies flow the way they should and also encourages the natural flow of energy from the earth. By grounding, the energy centres of the body (chakras) are moved into the correct alignment.
Times, days and phases of the moon can all have an influence on the power of magick, but it's not essential. What matters, is your intuition and instinct.....listen to it. This is when your spell crafting abilities will be at their strongest.
Spell crafting can involve elaborate rituals or simply lighting a candle. The choice is yours. Do whatever you feel comfortable with (not to mention how much spare time you have!).
The important thing is, 'the belief and knowing' that your intentions WILL manifest.
Of course, all magick needs a little physical effort too. You're hardly going to win the lottery, if you don't buy a ticket!
Magick. Live it, breathe it, help it along.
Just my take on it
