The circle

I was just wondering everyones thought on making "the circle" Why do you feel you need one and do you feel that they are nessesary?

I don't cast circles, in fact I never have. I don't feel that I need to, though I know a lot of people do. Circles are meant to be for protective space, but I have my own protective space around me when I visualize it.
Just my opinion. ;D

I personally dont feel the need to cast a circle. I'm with Hedge i believe in my own space.

I always cast a circle. I just feel that the energy is better contained until such time as I choose to release it. And the way the atmosphere changes in the room once the circle is cast has always been enough to convince me of its power, and accept that it can help in any magical work.

I only cast a circle when I it a ritual of elementals. When the four seasons come to pass is when most of my buddies and myself get together and perform the ritual to welcome in the next elemental to it's new years birth right.

I cast cirlces every now and then... but's a more visual thing to sort of just warn off unwanted spirits. But I don't feel that it's totally necissary.

I've never physically cast a circle. I do, however, visualise a protective shield around me...whenever i feel the need ;D

I agree with Sillywitch - a circle protects and contains the power - wouldn't be without it meself- it's what Magics all about.

For me, a circle would tend to block out the energies of the Earth, Air, Fire & Water, the universe around and within us. Rather I employ a reflective shield so to speak. A bubble that allows positive energy in and deflects negitive energy away. In this way, I'm not "tied" to one place in the physical plane and can manipulate energy in the astral plane, so to speak, as well.
