I'm curious to know what people believe they can achieve when performing magic. Say someone is seriously ill, do you BELIEVE that a spell will cure them? Afterall intent and the power behind that intent is what makes a spell work, so will it cure someone of an illness. I'm interested to hear what people have to say on this matter, so don't be shy.

i cant honestly say but.. i would really hope that it would but there again if it did then there wouldn't be any ill people in this world because everyone who could heal others would and that would be fantastic and it would mean a lot less heart ache for those who are sharing someones pain but it you really believe it can work then why shouldn't it
i know that this probably dont make much sence to a few but i think if magic works on hope love detemination and the power of your belief in the spell then it should work i dont really know how it all works cos me i'm still new to all this but i have a few family members i would love to heal if i could myself included..

But what if the person isn't ment to get well? Does this person want to get well? Not meaning this in a bad way.
Some paths cross because of a misfortune of illness. You meet people that become very special to you, even if its just for a short time. Those moments with them are more meaningful. It teaches you what true love and caring means. And in some way it makes your own life more meaningful. So in a way magic works but on both people in a way you would never think it could.

Well, I don't necissarily believe you can cure the person, but maybe help them think more positively so they can pull themselves out of it, or at least send some good energies that might negate some of the negative ones. I think that if more people would have a positive outlook on life, we would get less illnesses... I don't know how to explain it... I know what I mean, but to you, you might not understand what I'm trying to say... I believe that magic, spells, rituals, and the deities can only guide you, but it's up to you to decide where you go from there.

The mind is a powerful thing. Take placebos for instance: "The physician's belief in the treatment and the patient's faith in the physician exert a mutually reinforcing effect; the result is a powerful remedy that is almost guaranteed to produce an improvement and sometimes a cure." -- Petr Skrabanek and James McCormick, Follies and Fallacies in Medicine"skepdic.com/placebo.htmlI think spells work in the same way. It's the witches' belief and the recipients faith thet yields a positive outcome. However, as henny stated, some people are not meant to get well...for whatever reason.

Interesting subject. First thing first I guess we are all mortal and so will one day die and no magic is going to stop it. Before death arrives there is usually illness sometimes long and drawn out and again magic cannot do much to heal this, but can I believe help to comfort people in this situation as can medical drugs or herbal treatment. Minor complaints through life such as headaches and things, well magic can help here but then so can a good herbal remedy or pain killer from your doctor. I cured my headache using a simple spell not long ago, so yes it can work on this sort of thing and maybe many other minor ills. I really would love to believe that you could say to someone in a wheelchair rise and walk and up they get but I don't think that will ever happen. Love & light. Glastonbury-Wizard

I believe that magic helps all of us stay on the right path. It is a powerful thing. If the illness is the path that a person is meant to take and that is the way that their life is supposed to end than I don't believe that magic will help. They have to complete their learning cycle in this life. But what if the person has already learned what they were meant to from the illness? Than I believe that magic can and often does help. Or if the illness is NOT a part of the person's intended learning. Again I think that magic helps.
Bottom line, nothing trumps the Great Lady's intent for us, but I believe that if the illness is not a part of that intent than we have a great deal of power. Either way we can't know unless we fight for those we love with every tool available.
(Wow, it's hard to explain these things!)

I am not sure if you can cure than straight out. I mean I am not saying that it is not impossible in happening. I just think it takes a great focus and that energy that you can find from anywhere. To give to others to relax them at heart and let there bodies heal themselves. I mean not to say I have not help my grandmother by staying at her side when she was sick and just focus on her. I left all things out of my mind. Like a empty shell. I wanted her to get better cause she still had to take to the park. Considering I was young people. An the next morning I woke up under the covers and my grandmother feeling better than ever. She told me she heard me praying and that I never let go of her hand.

All things are apportioned thier time in "this place". How we spend that time can be either positive or negative depending on our own conduct and our interaction with others. Our existance can pleasent or difficult. However the path is traveled, it still leads us to the same destination. We have free will and therefore we can do things that affect our mortal form.
That said however, Our lives, our time, unfolds in accordance to a plan set for us, by (for lack of a better discription) our core spirit and with the assistance of our guide(s). The purpose, to attain some element of knowledge, to learn a leason.
There are those that believe they can heal the sick. I would rather expain it more in the sense, there are those that can smooth the path of others in their journies, provided that turbulance (the illness) was the result of their own conduct as oppossed to their "Karma"
I hope that makes sense to someone out there. But then, it could be just the echo's of far too many books in my pointed head!
