Hiya
When doing readings, scrying, any form of divination for oneself, does anyone consider their intent may influence or prejudice the reading, or the outcome of events? I have been debating this issue with a friend and wondered what you thought.
Can it have a ripple effect in the way that casting a spell has? If so, can you harm anyone indirectly by doing any form of divination which refers directly or indirectly to them by subtley changing the outcome of events, simply through the divination process itself?
I now control my crystal pendulum with my mind: it tells me exactly what I want to hear, so I don't know if it is reliable or not. I have no idea whether something similar occurs when I am doing tarot, since it is less obvious!
I'd be very interested to hear your views.

While I've not had much luck with tools in divination, I suspect that you may be correct. I know that I have difficulty finding the meaning in many of my dreams as I think I'm seeing what I want them to mean. I think the same should hold true with other forms of divination. As long as one can maintain a certain distance or objectivity, then you are reporting what you see. When you get too close and loss that objectivity you report what you want to see.

Kiowa - do you cleanse your pendulem after every go?
An experienced scryer does detach themselves from the divination, as WS has said you need to distance yourself from the situation - meditating before you scry will help acheive this. I don't see how it can have similar effects to spells, divining isn't spellwork it is simply using a method to see a possible outcome. And remember, when you divine, what you see isn't set in stone.
Unless you detach yourself from the situation your divining may be prejudiced but only because you are not in the right state of mind to be divining in the first place. But it certainly won't change the outcome of events.
