Rune Stones & Scrying

Please excuse what might seem like really silly questions, but I have to ask other wise I will never know.

At the moment I am building my tools as I am drawn to them. No point in buying thing you never know if you are going to use, so I try to let my items draw me to them.

I havwe a couple of quesrtions.

Runes.......can you make your own? I mean, could you collect say stones that appleal to you and them mark the letters/shapes on to them. I mean, wouldn't that make them more personal to you?

Also, Scrying...........I have seen many crystals and pendulams about, but do they have to such things?
Now this will sound silly, I have a clear crystal xmas decoration (the type with a wire "cage" around it). It is the same shape as a pendulem. If Iwere to add a cord to it, could this be used? Or do certain tools have to be made frmo certain materials?

LunaCat, to put it simply, ~YES!~

You do not need anything big or fancy. The first witches used whatever was around them in nature. Kitchen witches use things they find in their kitchens.

The more you have that is personal to you, the easier/better your spell weaving/divination will be.

I've heard that if you make your Runes, you learn them faster. If you make your pendulum, you can read it easier. I know of a very artistic person drawing her own tarot cards, and not even using all the meanings in a "traditional" deck, but using what feels right for her.

If it feels right for you then do it.

i was on a
tarot web site the other day. he said tarot card meanings to-day were not right,over the years the real meaning been lost. i think they still hold some of there meanings. but he said playing cards are better. what do you folk think??

I have just gpot back to this site after a long absence so I have only just seen this thread.
You can make your Runes from stones that you find or from wood whichever you prefer. If you can try to get stones that are flat, I made a set out of slate chippings they feel good and being flat they sit well on the cloth I use.
I do have a set that is made of wood, having a problem using tools I had someone make the blanks for me and them I put the Runic symbol onto them.
To further personalise the Runes you can carry them with you in a pouch or sleep with them under your pillow this will help to empower them with your energy.
I do this to help learn the runes.
I look for the runes in everyday things like the branches of a tree or in the bark, in walls, bricks, fences, things in the home,in shops or anywhere you can think of.
I have done this for each rune in order it is not only fun to do but you learn the rune and its meaning that way as well.

I have also made a set of cards two and a half inches by three half inches, I punched a hole in the top left corner in each and drew the Rune on each card with the meaning in the back of each. Threading some cord through the holes I have a set of cards to test myself with. Keep the meaning on the back simple for example:
X on the back I have put this
Gebo
Gift
Partnership

Generosity, Personal relationships, commitment, contentment

This is a simplified version of the meaning but gives me enough to work with. I hope this helps.
