Runes have a special meaning for me. I am able to relate myself to certain ones. Anyway, it is a complicated system if you are not used to it. It consists of odd symbols and oval shaped objects. It is an accurate system however and it can be right, if given the right information. It all depends on who is doing it. You have to be serious-minded if you want it to be accurate and to get it to work. If you like to play around a lot it is not for you.

I've read a few times (don't remember where) that if runes are used when casting spells and doing blessings the runes will increase the power of the magic.
Have you found that to be true? I've thought of looking into learning about runes but wasn't sure how easy they are to learn.

I have found the Runes easy to learn and there are lots of courses out there to help you with this as well. Some are more in depth than others it all depends what you want. One course can be found at mistresskalpanasrealm.com/It is free and you work at your own pace, you do need to make sure you post at least once in two weeks I think. Elder Futhark is the one that is used the most and easy to obtain if you want to buy them. The person that runs the course is easy to get on with and very helpful.

I have found runes to be quite easy to learn and it is easy to make your own set of runes from a fallen branch or from small pebbles gathered from a local beach and I have found this site to be very interesting. www.futhark.com/first.html

www.sunnyway.com/runes/ is a GREAT website! I don't own my own set of runes but I REALLY want a hematite set! Hopefully I'm getting some next year, lol. There's a gorgeous set of hematite runes in Adelaide but they cost a fortune so who knows when I'll be able to get them. I haven't done much divining with runes but I can read and write them & I know their history & meanings. I use Elder Futhark. I'm REALLY looking forward to having my own set, I LOVE runes!

I would say that the place for all things runic (ok, the two best places) are Freya Aswynn's website ( www.aswynn.co.uk/) and Oswald the Runemaker ( www.runemaker.com/). Freya is the foremost authority on the runes and, if you absolutely can't make your own, Oswald is the place to go. Freya's book, "Northern Mysteries and Magick", is a fantastic work and really worth a look if you're serious about getting involved in runelore. The sunnyway.com site has some useful information to get you started though, and it's really well set out. In answer to the question about rune magic, I use runes a lot, either as bind runes or rune staves. They really do enhance the working and I've found that anything I do, particularly if it's related to family, home etc, has a longer effect if I use the runes. I've been using them now for about 15 years and worked a lot with Freya on them in my early days. With love Lynne
