Hi everyone I wanted to share with the community here an important issue that's going to affect anybody interested in free access to spirituality or web forums online: The UK Internet censorship bill. Its been launched as a censor against child pornography websites to protect our children, however what is not known about it is that esoteric websites and internet forums are also included in the bill - without being publicly announced... Spiritual, occult and esoteric websites are conveniently being categorized to the same degree as pornography, terrorism, violence, suicide etc…! This means that all paranormal, supernatural, occult, new age, spiritual, alternative religion websites etc... will soon be banned from public viewing in the UK (and it may very well be an example for other countries to follow, as Canada and Australia have already announced similar plans) if we don't do anything about it. If this matters to you please help spread the word so we can all group together and stand up to this bill. Please sign the petition and read more info at: www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/uk-prime-minister-david-cameron-stop-the-unnecessary-censorship-of-esoteric-websites-and-web-forumsThe info-graphic below summarizes in a simple way what's going on. Feel free to add it to your website if you wish to raise awareness about this issue. It is a courtesy of reachinglight website and you can get a free copy here: www.reachinglight.com/infographic-uk-filter-block-esoteric-content-worldwide-implications/Thank you and blessings!

Agreed. And an international petition would carry no weight in the UK in any event

It's always a question as to how far society has shifted off center. There is a growing "Christian" force brewing I the west, by and large brought on by the war in Afghanistan, etc. The increasing fear of Muslim extremists and the ever increasing pressure from the NRA types has got America looking very much like an armed camp afraid to go out after dark. And add in the increasing unemployment rates, the economic uncertainty, ......
Sooner or later, some crack pot is going to start blaming other groups of people with different beliefs, looking for a scape goat. These days....never say never!

Yep...I was advocating ...at least 5 years ago for people to keep a low profile. Wicca may be legal in most Western countries, but that doesn't mean it's accepted by the fundamentalists.
Here in Canada, we just had the speech from the throne. It opened with a Christian prayer. In Quebec, the government is attempting to pass a law that would forbid "religious" clothing and jewelry for government employees. That's just a "first step" They pushed through a language law a number of years ago making French the official language, so no advertising, legal proceeding, teaching can be done in English. If they get the clothing thing through, they will slowly push it into general society and any Hindu, Jew, Muslim, etc...will be forced to move from the province.

The way the media has been covering it, from up here sounds like freedom of religion as long as it's Christian.

I think it has less to do with Christianity and more to do with protecting children, and even good intentions can go overboard. In America, children are being suspended for making gun shapes out of cheese and bread. And I remember being a 10 year old kid and my ultra religious aunt telling my mom that I worship the devil because I wrote scary stories. And with politics included, these 'good intentions' can easily lead people in to downright paranoia.
Realistically, I don' think the UK would shut down any paranormal, occult, new age etc websites, but in these times it's difficult to tell if some politician on a crusade will slip something into a bill that would close said websites.

Well, in the states, there are no less than 16 different agencies watching and looking at just about everything that we do in N.A. The amount of snooping has gone up since 1947, but it's been going on a long time.
