Its that time of year! I've started decorating the house, the tree is in and I'm working on a menu for the Yule celebration we are hosting. We will celebrate the solstice at my son's play as it is that night. Trying to get all the gift shopping done. Santa no longer visits our house as the jolly round man with the reindeer, but now as the spirit of the season (my youngest is well past Santa age). The family gathers here on Christmas morning for brunch and we share gifts with the little ones (nieces and nephews). Theres about 28 of us! My Yule celebration will be just a small ritual with a few close like minded friends. All my family is christian except for me, my hubby, and our kids....so what are your plans for the holidays?

Being that my year and a day will be done by then i will be spending yule alone and private. then for christmas will spend it with my family. I have decorated for the season (winter) lots of snowmen and snowflakes instead of the holidays ... think i am liking that better.

The yard is all decked out with lights and the cartoon characters that my FIL made from plywood years ago. There's about 50 of them, from Snoopy to Spiderman. Garfield, Shrek and you can't forget Santa and his reindeer.
The tree is up and we are still figuring out what we want in the living room. On Christmas eve, Wendy's family all gather together for songs and games, good food and cheer. Lets see, 6 plus spouses makes 12, plus there kids brings it to....22..plus spouses takes us to 28...plus grand kids....32. Just a good thing none of my side live close!
I like to take in the joy and the happiness that this time of year brings. I try not to get caught up in any form of religious stuff. That seems to put a damper on it. If I'm going to take time to reflect on the past year and express my hopes for the coming year, I try to do that after new year's and in private.

Lot of family ..WS ... that is a lot of fun. would love to see your yard. When my hubby was alive and able we would take the grand kids and go see the lights in peoples yards. that was lots of fun to do.
