Just the latest example that racism in the United Sates is alive and rampant. A young black boy shot because he was black and fit the "profile" of what the shooter thought to be a criminal. Then add to it, the local police not charging the shooter due to his right for self defense. Defense against some candy and a soda?
A recent article here in Canada indicated that of almost 1600 people surveyed, approx 60% don't trust Muslims, just because they are Muslim. Almost the same percentage didn't trust any one of a different race or religion.
Ever since 9/11, peoples "trust" has been slipping. But it has taken the biggest drops with the economic down turn. To some degree, it's a matter of the haves vs the have nots and what do we need to do to keep what we got.

The defense is attempting to say that the kid attacked the shooter and that he shoot in self defense.......really?
If I was being followed by some stranger, I be nervous. If he then approuched me, making demands, I might be defensive and ready to fight.
We don't know if the gun was pulled as he approuched the kid, but from listening to the 911 tapes, I'm thinking it was and the kid was fighting for his life.

Oh this is such a hot topic right now. I mean the whole thing is just insane.
First off, Zimmerman (the shooter) never should have set a foot out of his car and none of this would have happened, however, as he is a complete douche who has to kick ass and take names he felt the need to not only follow this teen in his vehicle, which in Florida, let me tell you is scary as shit, he then got out of his vehicle and confronted the teen.
Now here is where the story gets wonky for me. You have Zimmerman now claiming the teen kicked his ass, but this was not mentioned for a few days. Was Zimmerman embarassed that a 150 pound 17 year old kicked his fat 250 pound ass? Well I would think if he truly were bleeding fromthe back of his head at the time, someone, cops, emts, SOMEONE would have noticed. Maybe the teen just bled too much for anyone to notice poor Zimmerman's dreadful injuries. As well, we suddenly have a teenage (convenient a "peer" to judge Trayvon right?) witness. Where was this witness the night of the shooting? Why didn't this teen call the police the night of the shooting? For that matter why didn't Zimmerman call the police AFTER he shot Trayvon? Maybe because he had been told by law enforcement to leave the kid the f**k alone?
So now we hear that Trayvon was on suspension for having an empty bag or marajuana. I'm sorry, if the bag was empty how the hell do they know what was in it? My own kid, straigh A student, all-star athlete was recently suspended because the school saw him off campus with a few friends who were known pottheads. He smelled like weed the principal said. They tried to suspend him based on that. Yeah, that didn't happen, but it does show how insane the schools are over pott. In any event, who the hell cares if Trayvon was on suspension, who cares if he was on crack.
The point is he was walking, in a light rain, with his hood up, home from the store where he had purchased a bag of skittles and a can of tea. Now maybe it is me but I just don't see every kid in a hoodie as a thug gangster. Sorry Giraldo, you douchebag. That is a whole nother thread, because he (Giraldo) used ot be the shit.
I don't necessarily see this as a race issue as much as I see it as some idiot who wanted to play vigilante cop.
The sad thing is I seriously doubt Zimmerman will ever see jail time, but I also doubt he will live out the year. I'm fullt expect someone to "stand their ground" against him very soon.
As for the "Stand Your Ground" law, when that was voted in, it was right after a brutal attack on the east coast that had the entire state in chaos. Great time to put thru an insane law which, in hindsight, sucks ass.

I was listening to the news where they said that Zimmerman had a received a broken nose and "other" injuries from the skuffle. I'd like to see someone verify that with a medical report as so far it's just hear say.
It's incidents like this that can stack one on the other, building frustration, fear and hatred.
They need to deal with this before we see major race riots break out across the country.

200+ 17 year olds in St. Louis participated in the "hoodie march" for Trayvon last week. I was impressed.

The police did take Zimmerman into custody that night in order to get his testimony. They released the police video showing him coming into the police station today. No cuts, scratches or any injuries seen. Cloths neat and tidy....no grass stains or any sign of a scuffle.
Could it possibly be that, golly, could he.....no never happen....but maybe, just maybe....some one might be......lying!

I'm glad the rule of law still exists in the US, and every individual is entitled to a jury of his peers. The only thing we know about Trayvon is that nobody, beyond the people on site, really knows anything of substance, and the man has already been marked for death, with a $10,000 bounty on his head.
There are conflicting witness accounts, etc. I'm not sure what's going on; I wasn't there; nobody I know was there; nobody who's opinion I trust was there.
How do so many people seem to think they know exactly what happened? ...just sayin'
