Hello everyone, I've been long gone and never very active here, and after a couple years of massive amounts of work, many major upheavals in my personal life and never having any time, it's time I get back to developing my ol' spirit a little bit.
I'm a 30 something man, who, for a living is a software engineer.
I'm interested in all things creative, and thanks to a very knowledgable, friendly and kind 'super-Jeni' I had kindled in myself a keen interest in medicinal herbs, mainly gravitating towards nice tasting teas with gentle yet profound positive effects when used well.
I love music, play piano and guitar (only a year playing guitar so I'm very not good) and also compose when I have time.
My spiritual interest mainly come from a great introduction to both qigong (spell it how you like), both taoist and buddhist derived methods and Chen-style taiqi chuan.
Recently (in the last few years) I've explored shamanism (although I'm not sure I'm totally down with all the connotations and inaccuracy of the word, but it's most appropriate) and allowing myself to be taught by communion with various plant spirits, which is something I believe is sorely lacking in our modern culture due to fear, carelessness, and also lack of knowledge and proper guidance (the last two are really a result of the first two).
Spiritually, I can't say I really could define my beliefs beyond: I don't think there are any final "answers", but there are signposts when we need them as to where to go next. I pretty much just surf my own existence, sometimes well, sometimes not.
I do believe that we should all follow and listen to our hearts, and that we live in times which makes it very difficult to hear our hearts and also to speak them.
I believe panic, fear, confusion, greed, desperation and lack of patience are impacting us all more than I would imagine would be the case in more balanced times (but I may be only speaking to my own personal experience).
I share my life and home with a very unique woman and two very unique cats, and these are the core of my existence. They keep me grounded and connected, and I'm happy about that.
It's been way too long since I've been making my teas, and I haven't been spending nearly enough time connected to the natural environment. I always have too much to do and too little time ^^
I guess I could also say I'm a bizarre combination of engineer, scientist, craftsman, artist and spiritualist and perhaps by greed or perhaps it's just my own true nature, I can't let any of these aspects go; they are a large part of me.
Not a very coherent introduction, but there it is. I like to talk, I like to discuss, I like to have fun, and I like to share. I also like to know if my head ever swells too large. It's a serious illness to which I'm often prone.
