They have made an arrest Two men, ages 36 & 54 Bad news, while they were in custody, another deer was killed.
The news story seems to have had a bad effect in that it's prompted copy cat shottings. We're hearing of 1 or two deer being killed every night in different parts of town.

Water.
I am unable to open the link but I gather a couple of jerks butalized a deer to death for the fun of it.
And to think, I read recently in some of the norther mid western states people in out laying aread really DO have to hunt to eat! Times have gotten that hard for them.
Three years working in a slaughter house in every season, under ALL conditions for a start, THEN the hardest work possible for the forestry service for another three years should teach the boys a lesson.

Yep. Shot a big buck on the street corner with a cross bow in a residencial area, cut off it's head for a trophy, and left the body behind some shrubs.
While the killings have slowed down, last report said 9 deer had been killed to date.

I hate it that people are going for a trophy. Hunting is for food not to hang a trophy on the wall. What is their mind set to do this sort of thing?

The real 'crime' here is that all that venison was wasted. When I used to go poaching deer, at least it was for the meat. Even the hides went to good use. This is just wasteful.

Yep, in 2010 there were 13 deer found just like this one. In 2011, 28 Here it is just the start of 2012 and already have 4 more.
I think the word is out how easy it is and "head hunters" are coming in from the outside areas. At least the city pound puts the meat to use. Thing is, we have so many deer here that most people don't really pay much attention to one being killed. Recently however, there have been a number of arrows found in the sides of houses or in tree trucks in peoples back yards. It's starting to sink in just how dangeous what these people are doing really is.

Just heard today that the city is finally going to live trap the deer, kill them humanly and use the meat through the Salvation Army soup kitchens.
About time.

There was been a few cases where they had hunters come to shoot the deer but they had to qualify with the sportsman's club and there was a list of who wanted venison that were to old to hunt anymore. As for the poaching,we call them backstrap hunters since that is all they take, they use to take the hind quarters too but not anymore.
