Shakespeare wrote; A rose by any other name.....
From my reading, virtually all religions and beliefs systems have some sort of concept of an after life. A great many seem to view it as a place to rest and reflection upon ones past life while waiting for the next. A few view it as a final rest, or reward for living a "good" life, were they can be with their God.
Personally, I don't have a clear concept of an after life. Possibly because I've never meet anyone who's been there and returned knowing where they had been. I suspect that there is something and I tend to lean toward the idea of a form of Nirvana. But I don't "know".
What does your path tell you? What is your concept of an after life and do you have any evidence to support it? Where does it exist?

My thoughts. The after life was created because of fear of the unknown and if you lead a good life you will be rewarded. If you lead a wicked life you will be punished or have to live life again to learn its lesson. Looking at life in the way nature plans it. A leaf or a tree falls it gives life to those around it.The plants and the tree its spark of life lives on. As humans our spark lives on also. Not in the shell of earthly form. Evidence? Believing is seeing at times. Near death experiences? Everyone sees something different. Some see a light, some see other people who have passed. One thing that is common is they feel no pain, they don't have the hurt of missing those left on earth. They felt peace and calm.A bit of their spark lives within all those that truly loved them..a bit of immortality. The after life is what ever you want to make of it. Mine is a quiet peaceful cabin in the mountains with a stream.I have my animals with me that have passed. There are no worries of money or keeping warm or hunger.

At best I just do not know, whatever some 'religion' may say.

I had a near death experience. It was warm and fuzzy and comforting and full of love. I was floating amongst the stars, literally. I don't really have an idea of what happens when we die but I'm not scared of dying. So long as it's not a gruesome death that is.

I'm not afraid to to die, I'm just not ready, to much I want to do. But when I do, I'll be in Sum- merland where it's warm and green with no worries. My family and cats will be there and we can live like we want to. Until there is a chance for reincarnation if I want it.

let's see if i can explain what i feel ... we die, as the spirit leaves this body, there is joy and i really do believe that someone comes along to guide you. I don't think we really get much of a chance to rest maybe to enjoy some things; but i do think we get to be amongst others get a chance to learn lessons from this life and for each other kind of like here. just not as difficult i think there is more peace and understanding of thing. and i hate to say this but i think there might just be a school like for us to go to. before we can move on to what ever it is we move on to. I don't think there is an ending but always a new beginning. and i just might be all wet too ... but i just don't think that this is all there is. why cause my grandpa showed me so. and he had been gone from this life for a while. and something else i think not sure but i think he might have moved on as i can no longer make contact with him. who knows i don't.

My grandfather once told me that people could call it whatever they wished, however it was simply the one place in your heart of hearts you feel the safest and the happiest come true.
I have always believed it would be just that. I can easily picture my grandparents and my mother on my great grandmother's small farm in Ireland happy as can be.
Since I believe in reincarnation, I also feel that this is just a temporary place to regroup before you go again.

I think it will be whatever you think it will be. I cannot imagine an afterlife that is the same for all. I think each person who lives a good life will be rewarded with their own summerland or heaven or whatever you want to call it. Mine is a summerland, green fields, flowers, forests. Animals roaming free and without fear. All my furry and feathered friends are there and my family...even though they are not Pagan, they will still be in my summerland...

The after life being what ever one thinks it might be is possibly not far off the mark. Your family may not hold the same belief as you and they hold a concept of a christian heaven. At the same time you are sure that they will be with you. In essence in two places at the same time. Recent science indicates that it is possible for a particle of matter to be in more than one place at the same time. Such is quantum physics. (darn cat) Who's to say exactly what the soul really is...or if it exists.
