Just got back from spending a couple of days and nights in Monterey California. In a real, honest to goodness, genuine haunted hotel! And I missed them! Got so frustrated I almost asked for a refund. Until the deck clerk showed me a photo to tow normal, LIVING people. And a short, spooky, semi-transparent THING beside them they had not seen beside them when it was taken.
Considering how long European type people have lived in the area it makes sense some would end up sticking around after the last call.
Was I sacred? Do I BELIEVE? Will I be returning?
The answers to those of other thrilling questions after a word from our sponsors,,,,,,,.

The old Hotel Del Monte was THE premier resort for decades in the whole Monterey pennisula, everyone stayed there from royalty to entertainment stars to, well EVERYONE who mattered that visited Monterey! It was taken over by the U.S. Navy in WWII and they have had it ever since. It is now an engineering school, the Naval Postgraduate School, and the base looks it. But they kept the hotel as a fully functional resort hotel in the old style and restored most of the main buildings. It is on post housing now. And retirees like me get to stay there.
THAT was the haunted hotel. It is still haunted and the Navy recognizes it as such. The young lady behind the counter told me of her first night on 'grave' shift(!?!?!?!?). The large, lovely baby grand piano in the lobby started to play. By itself. She freaked and called security. In this post 9-11 world that means REAL, fully armed and trained security who responded instantly armed to the teeth and really to repell borders! When she explained the situation the guys told here there really wan't anything they could do to help her. Its not like they could kill the 'guy' bothering her. 'He' was already dead!
I am thinking staying there over the nights of October 30th and 31st,,,,,,,,,,.

THEN there were the 'things' some of us 'saw' on the beaches and in the woods around Monterey in the evenings and nights. Short. stout, green 'stumpy' guys who looked like walking tree limbs. The things that moved near the old Indian burial grounds there were part of the Indian reservation taken over to become part of Fort Ord. But you could only 'see' them out of the corner of your eye. That other people with you at the time 'saw' also.
The sea exploding on the rocks and the spray glowing in the darkness.
But that was years ago when Silver Rose coven used to meet, meditate and scry in a flame of some sort.

The spray glowing in the dark doesn't surprise me. I remember spending a number of nights on bridge lookout. A bit surprised to see the water come alive as a number of what I can only describe as torpedo's raced towards us, suddenly to turn and start dancing across the bow....dolphins and florescence in the water caused by various marine bacteria. A truly fascinating sight.

I've seen fungus on trees glow in the night. That would be really neat to see water splash glow

<<<Welcome to the Hotel California....such a lovely place>>>
Funny you mentioned that, while I did check out of the hotel,,,,well I know I did. At least I think I did, I am still in Monterey. Walked out that morning to my car. And kept walking, I walked passed at first then a few more times then I stopped noticing it was not there anymore. Now I don't even look for it.
That is all I do these days, walk. Walk all over the penninsula now and I never get tired, it is odd seeing all the places I used to go to and it is like they are different somehow. Even the places I used to eat at, I would go there, enjoy the same meals I always did but now I am never hunrgy anymore. Never pay for the meals either. Days go by and I forget to eat and never feel the need to, I only eat for the pleasure I remember getting from it. But I forget to more and more.
Always end up on the beach for the sunsets. They are even more beautiful that I remember and when there are clouds in the sky they give the day a mood with colors I have never seen before. Then I walk back to the hotel. Knowing I checked out but also knowing I still have a plastic key card in my pocket. Funny thing is, I never need it out to get into my room. I end up in that same room with those same drapes, in the day they only allow a pearly white light to filter in no matter how bright the day is. Then I lay down under that ceiling fan I could never get started and the see the strange shadows move around me all night. That I never rememebr sleeping through.
Then it starts again the next day,,,.
