Like so many other people who encounter this from time to time, I'm going through a phase of not feeling all that "mystical, magical, spiritual" I've been attempting to come up with an original idea to post to generate some discussion ....ain't happening. I don't know.....maybe just the pressure of the real world. Off sick for two months and now so far behind on work I may never see day light, trying raise my grand kids and taking on the role of Soccer dad at my age.
I guess it's a matter of perspective. Need to take some time for myself and clear my head. That said, Tuesday, kids in school, wife at work...I'm going fishing! Salmon are running (pinks) and I can cast from the rocks just a few blocks away. At best, I can come home with supper. At worst, I can meditate in a totally perfect surrounding.

I know what you mean WS, I get moments like this too. Getting back to nature is a sure quick fix for getting your mojo back. Happy fishing my friend.

My grandchildren are my biggest source of joy. BUT I don't have them all the time. When that happens I can well understand that what was joyous can become bogged down in worry and responsibility. Becoming your grandchildren's full-time carer is not something you expect to happen. Yes, I'd take off fishing, (or walking or whatever) I always find that a day or two with nature has a calming effect. I'd also stop being so hard on yourself; your grandkids are lucky to have you - so many don't have that sort of security to fall back on these days (and as a former foster parent I've heard some heartbreaking stories first hand). You are giving them warmth, food, security and love, which is all they need to thrive, anything else is a bonus which you can, and should, congratulate yourself on.

One, small mouth bass. Then the wind came up a blow me and my canoe to the middle of the lake. I spent the next hour trying to get back in. Relaxing......not!

Yes life can be frustrating. Taking care of the family and not having time for one's self. Nothing wrong with being a soccer day and age is nothing.
My father is retired and is board to death. He comes over wondering what I am doing. He is so use to being busy and most of his friends are gone.I ran out of helpfull things for him to do so he feels usefull. He went as far as remodling the inside of my house as a suprise coming home gift.
Be happy you have what you have. Those kids will take great pride in you when they are older.I enjoyed all the time I spent with mine, right down to taking care of him when he got old.My kids enjoyed the time they spent with their grampa. Their home was like a second home for them just another set of parents.
I am so happy for the little things in life now.Being able to see the stars, playing in the garden(its not work I'm not getting paid)just to be able to say I tried to go fishing got my feet wet in the river and I was darn happy about it.

yes being in nature does it for me, I also get lost in 'lifes' ups an downs and forget about whats inside me that makes me "GO". Especialy dusk and dawn, they are just loaded with energies that are almost visible. But this time around walking around in the forest did it for me.
