Fun body awareness technique based on similar principle to applied kinesiology.
Stand tall feet about shoulder width apart, left hand over lower stomach (just below belly button) right hand over left, palms facing your body. Now make an assertion and imagine putting it in your hands to ask your body. When you make your assertion you should feel a subtle sway to your body that shouldl change based on whether the assertion is true or false. Start with obvious questions, your name, where you live, personal details, likes and dislikes- obvious stuff you know the answer too, ascertain what your body's yes and no is. Do these slowly give yourself time to respond, once you know how your body responds you can start to dialog and hopefully be more healthy and receptive of your body's needs.
Try any concerns- I should sleep in and rest up tomorrow. I should get up early and go exercise. I should eat a big bowl of ice cream. I should drink more water. I should go on crash diet. I should see a doctor for this problem. I should spend more time meditating and performing rituals. I should take a break from spiritual practices. Whatever you are concerned about that you think your body might know the answer too.
You'll probably find more sway on issues that are definitely good or bad for you, might change from day to day too, could be some days a big bowl of ice cream just what you and your body need. As you practice this technique you'll probably become more attuned to your internal states and be able to figure out the right choices for you without even really doing the pendulum position. Have fun!
