I didn't notice anywere else for this thread to be placed so I thought in here...Since the topic is...What do Christians think?
I had a girlfriend who was a devoted christian she went to church with her family every sunday, said her prayers every night, so I wasn't sure wether to "come out of the broom closet".
I read my oracle cards and they said be true to the ones I love and myself.
So I went to tell her and she called me evil, she said come to chruch and be (she used a word but basically forgiven) I couldn't I knew wicca was my place, I held a place in my heart for it, but in her eyes there wasn't enough room, she went to a bible group and she told all her friends that I was evil and worshipped the devil can they help her...I was very angry, I explained the whole devil isn't part of my religeon and if she would let me explain she might not have been so decived as she put it.
I wasn't prepared to let my wiccan side go, I respected her wished I said grace at the table, I stopped saying Oh my god and Jesus christ in vein, I adjusted to her religeon and she wasn't prepared to do that for me, we split and she refuses to keep contact with me and it really makes me angry to see someone so closed to any other religeon but her own...
I found out she told all her bible club friends as another friend of mine went with her...And she told me...She was open to the whole wiccan side, but she said she will never practice it, only because she things it shouldn't be tampered with...
Do we have any christians here? Have you ever been in a situation were someone close to you wont be prepared to, not so change, but adapt to be with you?
Please no sympthay...^_^

A friend of ours is Mormon, with a Mormon family - the wife of one cried "yikes!" and ran away, when introduced to me. I was attacked by roman catholics one time - intent of cleansing my evil. Stones were thrown at me by another - a priest led that attack. Christians seem to be very insecure people, who cannot believe anything true, gullible to the extreme, and totally closed to anything else. I don't like most of 'em. If it was not against the law to burn us, christians would be doing just that. Think about it.

I also think it is the people that you may be coming across, not all Christains are like that, some happen to be very nice and accepting of your right to believe as you want. That happens especially when you remind them of free will, the right to chose given to us by every God out there. I have lost friends because of my beliefs but feel it is their loss, not mine. After all they are losing a friend that stuck by them for everything...i however learned just how good of a friend they were. Obviously I was the better friend, i just called her to check on the kids, after 4 years of silence, because their father just died in a car wreck.
Thing is you can live you life as you want and still respect everyone else rights, if you don't believe that then you are the one with problems.

Christianity is a religion of evangelicals. They teach that there is only one god and all others are false. There is but one path to heven/redemption/ and the father and that is through Jesus. It's their job to spread the word and save as many souls as the can as well as themselves, for only the ritious will see god.
Not all christian take all of that to heart, but you never really know who your talking to. Or how far they might go to save your soul. As a rule, there are four things that you should never discuss with co workers. How much you get paid, your sex life, politics and religion. Any of these can cause an arguement that could cause you or them to lose a job.
Anytime you hear of someone being in a Bible class, you can guarantee that they are very firmly devoted to their beleifs and the teachings of the bible. It's not a matter of wanting to accept you for who you are, her faith won't allow it and she is unable to see any other way. Remember the Bible teaches things like, Tho shalt have no other gods before me, and , suffer not a witch to live. The more evangelical a christian is, the greater the risk for you to experience physical harm. All in the name of their loving and caring god......

I am friends with many Christians, and I am totally "out of the broom closet" with all of my friends. And there was only one bad experience, which I posted about, along with a rant about tolerance. Also, some people would make fun of me, and ask them to turn them into newts. Which I took as their way of handling something different than them. My uncle is super christian, so I haven't even bothered telling him what is going on.
I have met tolerant Christians and intolerant ones, and while I would like to say that it is a personal trait, rather than a religious one, it sadly is more religious than not. Its like ws said, its an evangelical faith, they feel its their duty to prove you wrong and "make you see the right path."

Yep...christian witches. Heard the arguments flip flopped a couple times, but right now I just can't reconcile the differences in the two paths.
What's not fair? To the victors go the spoils of war. And there have been many wars fought over religion. The spoils.....look at how many nations use the bible as part of their oath of office, legal systems that use the bible to swear you in. The "church" controls more than just religious practices. The bible is the foundation of so many governments around the world, it boggles the mind. WE IS GROSSLY OUT NUMBERED!

But I have herd of christian witches...Whats that about? I personally believe it is a contradition of beliefs to call yourself a Christain Witch. *we capitalize the title of a religion such as Wicca or Christain* It states in their bible that witchcraft is evil and wrong and should not be done. So to call yourself a Chistain Witch would go against what your holy book said.

Ya know I think the hardest person to *come out of the broom closet* to was my Mom... Altho she is open minded and accepts people for who the are and not what they believe in; it was still tough for me. It was easier for me to tell her I liked women also that it was for me to tell her I'm a witch ! We go camping at least once every other year, I brought a few pagan books with me on one particular trip. I showed her a paragraph I can't remember the subject but she totally agreed with what was written ! Where we go camping you could find almost anything there if you look hard enough. When I first started reading about Wicca *altho I've had a pagan heart since 13yrs old* it was something I was grateful to find out I'm not the only one who felt like this. Anyway, I ran across this spell to remove negativity from my life, it required using a terra cotta planter. I was wondering what I could use in place of it. Mom asked what I was thinking so hard about...I told her I needed a clay pot and was trying to think what I could use. She asked me what I needed it for, I told her. She got up and went over to a place about a few camps over and came back with one of the 4in ones and asked if there was something else I needed ! Oh, just a nail to scratch stuff into it...she got me one ! Now, back then I had not realized if you talk about a spell you'll pull the energy back hence it will basically be in voided. When she asked what I said into the clay pot I told her So now I've decided not to talk about what I said or did... I even try to not even think about it...tho sometimes that's real hard to do...especially when it's important ! Gentle Light Mollimizz

Just a comment on the Christian Witch. My daughter calls herself a Christian Witch. She says the reason is that her deities, along with the Norse pantheon, includes the Christian God and Mother Mary, but does not believe in the Christian devil. She does not go to a Christian church regularly, but she does wear her crystals and use healing herbs all the time. She is also a Reki practitioner and does healing touch. So I guess it's in how you look at yourself, and how you see your spirituality. Personally, I agree with it being contradictory. I can't see believing the Christian faith and being a Witch, although most of the Christian holidays and ceremonies are centered around Pagan rituals and holidays, so I suppose.... And just a note about the "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" thing. I've heard, or read somewhere, that the original text states "evil-doer" and that the Catholic translators put in the word "witch" for their own benefit. So, the Christian bible needs to be looked at loosely, and it be understood that the many, many translations and editions have been done by man, not deity, and are subject to interpretation and translations, and the will of Christians everywhere to persecute that which they do not want to understand, or approve of.

on the subject of christian witches, whether you think its contradictory, isnt wicca, and paganism very flexible anyway? if you want to see jesus and mary as your deities, but throw out some other things, how different is that to worshiping shakti and shiva, but not doing anything else hindu? and no one tells them off. christianity is a religion like every other religion that pagans take bits here and there from. wicca is known for its flexibility and individuality, and if an individuals choice is to worship mary and jesus, good on them. we dont call someone contradictory and hypocritical because they worship shiva and shakti but dont believe in kali or someone else. christians have their problems, but we have just as many with them. they might dislike with a witch, but we claim not to dislike them, why should we dislike a mix of the two???
