It was huuuuge moonlithave. She's actually resting on my Thyme in that picture and as you can see, her fangs are about the same size as a Thyme Leaf!!

that is scary!! Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase arachnoleptic fit as if I walked through a web in your garden I would be frantically trying to check there was not one of these on me lol

For some reason, the smaller the spider, the scarier they seem. Well, maybe creepier, none of them are really scary. But as they get larger and hairier, they start to look like small mammals. Like some sort of rodent or something

That really is true - we were at Scotty's Castle, in Death Valley a couple of years ago, when a male tarantula wandered across the courtyard, heading for the just turned on sprinklers. I was sitting down at the time, and this enormous furry thing wandered not half an inch from my hand - not even vaguely scary - you could see all the eyes, lined up on the front of his face, and I swear he was smiling..
