I was just wondering if being born under a certain moon phase has any kind of significance? I know I was born under a New Moon and I can't help but wonder if there is any meaning in that. The Moon is a powerful symbol and has always held sway over our mythologies and legends, so I figured there must be something to all of this.

I was just wondering if being born under a certain moon phase has any kind of significance? I know I was born under a New Moon ... The only thing I can offer is that author Lyall Watson says that studies have shown that a woman will conceive under the same moon phase as she was born under. I have been planning to see if I can find out if that is true for myself (2 children), but I have never gotten around to it. Will let you know! Edited to add: Now that I think about it, I know Lyall Watson said something about different talents being more prevelant in people depending on the phase of the moon during their birth. Hold on a bit and I will dig it up.

I found a little of what I was looking for. Lyall Watson in Supernature says the moon is often nicknamed "the great midwife" as more births take place on a waning moon than a waxing one with the maxium just after the full moon and the minimum at the new moon. There is a sudden increase of births each day when the moon is passing directly overhead.
More women have their menstrual cycles on the waxing moon than the waning moon with a peak on the eve before the new moon. Ovulation is connected to the moon and the ability of a woman to conceive. Most women conceive with the phase of the moon that prevailed during her own birth.
82% of all bleeding crises occur between the first and last quarters of the moon with a significant peak during the full moon.
When the moon is full there is a marked peak in psychotic motivation such as arson, kleptomania, destructive driving, and homicidal alcoholism. A friend of mine works at a mental institution and says the patients are unusually uncontrolable during the full moon. More fires are set at that time there also. Of course I have to ask how the patient get access to matches!?
Deaths by tuberculosis are most frequent seven days before the full moon. (It is believed the moon affect the blood's PH levels.)
Scientists and doctors are most often born with Mars and Saturn in ascension. Soldiers, politicians, and team athletes are more often born with Jupiter in ascension. Writers, painters, and musicians are not linked to any particular planet but markedly avoid Mars and Saturn.
Writers and long-distance runners are markedly linked to the moon.
"A far more likely theory is that the cosmic environment plays an important part at the moment of conception or soon afterward, when the raw materials of heredity are still sorting themselves out into the ultimate arrangement for the new individual. Even the smallest nudge at this time would be enough to alter the direction of development sufficient to produce a major effect on the end product. The amount of energy necessary to produce an effect increases as the embryo gets older, bigger, more comples, and is less flexible. Most cosmic stimuli are faily subtle, and it seems much more likely that they would act in the early stages of development than later on, at birth."

PaganOne...menstrual cycle...ovulation... you forgot to warn the boys I was born under a Full Moon...very reassurring it is associated with psychopathic behaviors...hopefully I was conceived under less deviant circumstances Now when they say writers are markedly linked to the moon...does that mean we would tend to be more cyclical and exhaggerated in our moods and/or behaviors depending on the phases...because that would explain...a lot....

I believe it means that the moon is more prominent at the time of birth than any other planet. For example, a birth with no planet in ascension and during a full moon. I need to have my birth chart done. I write but have not yet had the courage to try my hand at submitting any of my work for publishing. Here is a website I built quite some time ago. Some things I have written about my beliefs no longer hold true for me, but there are a few things I have written on the last page that show my writing style. jetxa.webs.com/index.htm
