Hello everyone!

I am a gay male who lives in the US. I have only just recently turned to paganism after having been raised in a very Christian family. I have also only been openly gay for about 2 years. I was married to a very domineering woman for 20 years, which has left me feeling very immasculated, and has soured me toward the female side of religion. I thought for a while that I wanted to follow Wicca. My faith was basically Wicca with a heavy leaning toward the male aspect. However I am not comfortable with the idea that there are only 2 deities, nor am I comfortable with the idea of reincarnation.

Today, I am a somewhat ecclectic pagan. My beliefs tend to blend a little Wicca with Shamanism and some Druidism. I still feel a strong need to reconnect with my masculine side. I also feel a strong connection with the Celtic god Cernunnos. At some point in the future, when I feel more comfortable with myself and have found a path to call my own, I may begin incorporating more of the female into my faith.

I love anything Celtic, especially anything Scottish, since I am of Scottish descent on my mother's side (clan McKay). I am trying to teach myself Scottish Gaelic, but the going has been very slow. I love Celtic music. I also love anything Native American (my mother says I have some NA blood somewhere in my gene pool - but then in America, who doesn't? ) . My totems are wolf and crow.

Hello herne and welcome the the coven.

I have always lacked the male aspect in my practices and have recently been making more and more of an effort to create a balance between the male and the female. Too much of anything is never a good idea - even more so when it collates with our spirituality.

And the funny thing is, when I started to become aware of the male aspect - it was like a HUGE part of my life had been missing - I actually started feeling better within myself which then reflected on other parts of my life.
It was like a missing piece of the puzzle that I'm slowly rebuilding.

Of course - we all have our paths to travel and we all need to do it in our own time and in our own way.

But I hope you find your goddess.

Hello, Herne. Many years ago the male side of wicca was almost completely ignored. This, I believe, was a natural and necessary reaction to 2000 years of male dominated religion. Having got that out of our systems the male aspects again became important, though I believe that the almost exclusively female years were necessary. If you feel the need, due your life experiences, to concentrate on the male deities for a time then I'm sure that's right for you......for now. To exclude the female forever can only lead eventually to an imbalance and you might find that ultimately your path was less than satisfactory. Go with the male aspects for now and I'm sure that, as long as you remain open to the possibility, the female aspects will become an important part to you too. I wish you well.
