Hey folks, I've been reading the board for a short time, thought I might say hello.
I'm renee. I'm 29, live in Maryland. I've been some flavor of pagan for about ten years now, though only really started finding some good, real definitions in the last four years or so. For the record, I've never been Wiccan or even really interested at all in Wicca (That is to say, I find it an interesting topic and know a reasonable bit about it, but i've never been interested in being Wiccan myself)
(I'm not one of those "OMG don't label me!" folks...though I prefer to be the one to label myself, unless someone else comes up with something particularly fitting.
I consider myself to be bi-religious. I am a Hellenic polytheist, somewhat reconstructionist...though I'm probably at least as nerdy about it as some of the more hard-line recons out there. My personal religious practice is strictly devoted to the Hellenic gods. I am also a member of ADF (http://www.adf.org) where I completed the Dedicants program last year, then began clergy training...realized after a few months that I was doing the wrong thing, and switched over to ADF's Initiates Program. So...ADF is my "group religion". I've been involved with my grove since 2004.
I am particularly devoted to Apollo, I also worship Hermes and Dionysus rather closely. I hold a great fascination for all deities associated with Delphi, as well as the more primordial gods, the titans and the various celestial daimones. Recent discoveries have prompted me to look more closely at some of Italic/Etruscan cults related to Apollo, and I'm finding some veeeery interesting things....
I also hold purely academic interest in the Gaulish, Iberian and Welsh Celts, as well as mesoamerican cultures and, to a vague extent, the Norse.
When I'm not talking or reading about my religion, or even more important, practicing it, I'm probably sleeping, eating or working (though, even at work, I'm usually at least reading about it. Hey, I'm talking about it now!) I work in overnight technical support which basically means I get paid to sit around and surf the internet.
In whatever time is left over, I like to cook, read, watch movies (I'm a bit of a netflix junkie, I love foreign movies. Subtitled, not dubbed.) harass my girlfriend, play with fire (er, I'm not a pyromaniac, I actually do performance...though not as much as I used to), knit, play with my cat, and whatever else catches my attention. Oh yeah, and play on Teh Intarwebz.
So, uh, hi.
PS, just so you can't say I didn't warn you...I can be verbose, especially on topics of great interest. Like I said, I'm nerdy. Possibly unhealthily so. Teehee.
