I've just started tarot about a month and a half ago, but there are still a lot of gaps in my head.
Whenever I've looked at tarot-readers online, they always ask when your birthday is. Does your sign have any specific purpose in a tarot reading, or do they just ask for your birthday so they can know your age (like, if i was a professional tarot-reader with my own site, i wouldn't want to waste my time with a ten-year-old's question).
Also, what makes a good tarot-reader good? Anybody can shuffle and pick cards, right? What makes a big-guy's tarot reading any better than the other person's? Are they doing something special, are they just more experienced, or what?
Also, does anybody know of any website about Tarot, and how to do it well? I can not buy books or ebooks due to my place of residence (in a house.. with my Christian family, lol). I would like something with a lot of information. I'm really eager to learn! ;D
Thank you all!
EDIT:
And I just thought of it now: What are better questions to ask the cards? Yes-or-No, or for advice?

i wouldnt trust the tarot readers online. just because they could be automated, fake, or just bad people. if your going to get a reading i suggest you do it yourself, or get a trusted someone to do it. dont know any sites sorry. im sure theres some good ones out there though with the question, depends what your after i guess. depends on what spread you do. i dont think theres a better question, it just depends on what your better at or what your after. hope i helped btw, HI ANGI!! 8)

Well, what I mean is the credited Tarot readers who are considered to be "professional". What makes a good reading or reader good? I know it's probably an.. odd question, but I was thinking about it one day and decided to ask. lol.
I did find one site! I'm too lazy to post a link, but it was called Aecletic Tarot. Didn't have everything I was looking for but it did have written meanings for all the cards, which was great since I knew nothing about the Minor arcane.
"depends on what spread you do. i dont think theres a better question, it just depends on what your better at or what your after."
That makes sense *nods*.
And HI HEKA!!! *hug* =D

I was going to suggest Aeclectic Tarot to you, but you found it! I like looking at the different decks they review, although I haven't visited the page for a long time. I've found a great web-site with a free course you can download and do with your own pace, and it would answer many of your questions about the right questions to ask the cards. It's www.learntarot.com. I mostly do readings with the Celtic Cross spread and a Relationship cross one (it's a good one, but I don't remember where I found it, it's much like the first cross cards from the Celtic Cross), so i don't ask yes or no questions. I think these spreads allow for more open-ended questions, and so I ask them. I think what makes the "pro" Tarot readers better from others is that they've found a way to completely understand the cards in a spread as if they were one, as if they were telling a complete story. They can easily understand meanings in a way they've found true from experience, not by memorizing text-book meanings. That's my take, at least.
