I'm a solitary eclectic Wiccan/Witch & I agree with hedge about the eclectic path being far more spiritual than adhering solidly to another tradition-based path such as Gardenerian, Alexandrian, Strega, Faerie etc. I want to reach enlightenment MY way, not Gerald Gardner's way or anyone else's.
Although I think that if you do find a tradition that suits you that's great - so long as you do what's right for you it doesn't matter who's way it is.

I am an eclectic witch. I tried so very hard to find traditions that would fit me perfectly, but no such luck. I always felt as if I would miss out on some beautiful traditions and practices if I only adheared to one. So... I study practically everything that crosses my path when I can, and "adopt" what I love that makes sense to me. I love being eclectic. My whole personality is pretty eclectic anyways.

I guess you could say I've had a few different paths... Starting out I considered myself just a gypsy witch, (the traveling bug runs in my family) I prayed to Diana and asked her for guidence. Working the carnival the only time I had to practice was the few days between shows. I just winged it then It wasn't until I found the internet I really come to see how many of us there really are; I was amazed ! I investigated the shaman's path being 3/8 Native American, but drifted to the wiccan path. After awhile I decided to just turn it into an eclectic witch's path with an egyptian twist when Isis brought my attention to her I've finally settled on being a pagan witch, plain and simple. I am an eclectic witch but I am not wiccan, I started with a leaning towards celtic side of things but when quan yin came to me I was blown away by her energy, it was so beautiful and also my first contact with deity!
