Wicca is a beautiful religion, I was extremely drawn to it when I first started out as well. Wicca has, and always will be, a very important part of my journey.
I no longer classify myself as being Wiccan . . . not really. I've realised that I'm much more comfortable being a Witch with Wiccan ideals/tendancies. There are a few reasons why I feel like this:
1 - The Threefold Law. I fully believe in karma, I believe that what goes around comes around. But I'm not sure I believe that it will come back to you three times. See, I believe in balance and if something comes back to you three times then that's not very balanced, is it? If I do something nice for someone then I believe that it will be balanced out by something nice happening to me, not 3 nice things happening to me - that's not balanced.
2 - Organized religion. Originally I kind of liked the structure, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not one for following rules, I'd rather do things my own way. But, being a Witch, I can be as structured as I wish without having to be structured, you know?
3 - I also don't like the initiation and all that. I don't need to be initiated to worship the Lord and Lady - I don't agree with that. Having said that, I don't believe that an eclectic Wiccan needs to initiated in order to become Wiccan.
For me, being an Eclectic Wiccan and being a Witch is the same thing. Wait, I think that came out wrong . . . okay, I'll try again. My beliefs haven't changed - they've grown, but they haven't changed. Because I'm eclectic, I had already altered Wicca to suit myself so really, it's no different from being a Witch with Wiccan tendencies. Yeah, that sounds better. Lol.
