I can agree and disagree with many points or aspects in regards to Satanism and it's followers (nomatter the tradition) But as with a few others, it just isn't for me. There's just something about it that makes me uncomfortable, though I can't put my finger on it to fully explain myself, sorry. Might be a repressed memory or something, lol. It can be argued that the massive revival of the practice is becuase of a person or persons who are self-serving and attention getting, however in EVERY religion there is always that one person at the forefront who is looked at as an all-knowing pioneer of that path. I don't agree that this makes the religion or spirituality "bad" though (We all know this). It's actually a good thing becuase without those people I don't believe that the masses, without serious time off for in-depth study in theology and what-not, would even know that a path for them existed. Without those pioneers, nomatter their intentions, I myself would still be a lost soul.

Satanism. Another topic I blogged on. lol. I wont post the blog uless you want me to though. lol. Anyways, I see nothing wrong with satanism. I have a very good friend who is a satanist and he is a wonderful person (he is a thiest) Satanism is a highly interesting religion that deserves the same respect as any other religion. I agree with some of the philosophy.

I have met a number of people who were emotionally and mentally damaged by things that occurred at satanic rituals. That is the extent of my experience with the subject, but sufficient to convince me that I do not wish to follow that path.

you dont have to follow the path or even agree with it to try and understand them more or show them respect.

I own a copy of the Satanic Bible and its sequel... damned if I can remember the name without digging through my closet for it. I've read them both and find it quite interesting.
One could say I've incorporated one or two of the nine statements into my own worldview, that of kindness to those who deserve it (and to me you deserve it unless you prove otherwise) and taking vengeance instead of turning the other cheek.
However I personally cannot be selfish enough to follow it as a single path. It is simply one of those I have "borrowed" from where it felt right for me. To some it may be right in its entirety. Kudos to them.
I think it takes a lot of guts to follow such a maligned religion (or philosophy however you want to look at it) openly in such a Judeo-Christian society. As it does for any of us who are polytheist or just plain not one of the many.
I'm glad I was able to read such an open minded thread on the topic. Most people I know would automatically go on the offense if such a topic were brought up.

It's good to read about and gain some insight in as many things as a person can. I'm always tell the kids just taste the Broccoli, how do you know you don't like until you at least give it a taste? So many things in life like that.
Having said that, there are somethings that we know by instinct or maybe via experience with a similar situation, that can be good or bad for us. I wouldn't grab onto a red hot hunk of metal with a bear hand just to see if it would hurt me.
