How many of you join in the festivities this time of year? Just wondered. I do celebrate it but I don't celebrate the birth of Jesus cos I don't believe in him. To me, Christmas is about family ;D
Just wondered who else did

We celebrate Christmas just as we've always done. I was raised a Christian, and it's hard to let go entirely of the true meaning of the celebration...not that I'd want to anyway ;D
I became a Pagan some years ago, but I still appreciate Christmas for what it is...the celebration of christ's birth, and a time for giving and recieving, and spending quality time with the family.
I believe there was a Jesus, but I'm not a Christian...I don't follow the teachings, although the 10 commandments are a wonderful moral code to live by.

I LOVE Christmas ;D I like the fact that everyone gets together in good spirit and celebrates. It is a time for regoicing all that is good and right in the world. If only people carried this meaning of the season over into their everyday life.
*oh, and I like getting presents too ;D

There definitely is something magical about xmas. I think that you can get a sense of community. I love the spending time with family part though as mine are scattered across two countries and it is the only time of year we all get together.
But xmas is getting too commercial. My partner hates christmas. I keep telling him to get over it and this is the time of year to appreciate what you have. And I hope he starts to as his friends dad died two days ago.

Bearing in mind Christmas is a very old festival that was here way before Jesus walked the earth, i too love this time of the year.....There is a magical feeling about giving gift's to family and friends and being in their company - it's a celebration of being togeather in the cold dark months and for remembering those that have gone before us....Hope you are all having a good time and having lots of fun.....Love and light walk with you all....

Christmas is a time of family. We don't do the church thing. We get together Christmas Eve and celebrate the joy of being together. We sing songs and play games and totally over eat. (and maybe over drink)
My in laws and out laws are a mix of Christians, Jews, and atheists. But we still enjoy the Christmas season.
For me, it's not so much about what you believe but who you are with.

Bearing in mind Christmas is a very old festival that was here way before Jesus walked the earth I'll have to differ with you here. Christmas is a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Christ. It means Christ's Mass, or the Mass of Christ. The ancient Celtic festival of Yule, however, ~ celebrating the Winter Solstice, pre-dates Christmas. Although these days, the two seem to have become synonymous.

I read a good quote the other day.
"Christmas........the only time when people of all religions come together to celebrate the birth of Christ" It made me chuckle.

I celebrate both Yule, for myself, and Christmas for my children. My oldest two have a father that does not know I am Wiccan and should not know anytime soon. My son says he is Christain and I am fine with that. My girls are leaning toward Paganism.. we will see. I believe they should always have the chance to celebrate the way their friends do, at least until they are old enough to decide what and how they want to do things.

I do still celebrate Christmas, and I even go to Church, though that's purely out of not wanting to upset my mother. I'll probably still celebrate it when I leave home as I don't have any objection to the spirit of the holiday or it's teachings of love, even if I don't believe in the Abrahamic Godhead. No doubt, though, it'll get mixed up with Yule celebrations too once I leave home. ;D

I celebrate Christmas mainly because of the cristmas tree. I could spend hours just staring at the lights and fake snow. The tree was a pagan symbol adopted by the christians. There was a president at some point, although I cannot remember his name, who had actually tried to make it illegal to have a christmas tree. Although it didnt pass through the house of representatives or senates so not many people ever heard about it. And obviously the law was never passed. Ya Christmas Tree!!!

I celebrate Christmas as a family celebration. It is a time for me to be close to my family and giving and receiving love.

I was raised Catholic and yes had a tree and all the trimmings. I even sang in the Church, caroling, shopping(when I had money)mostly I loved being with family. Since my divorce, I have celebrated Christmas with a tree 3 times. I will have one this year because of my son who is still Christian. HE does not know that I follow the wiccan path. Frankly I don't think I need to tell him. I do not have to condone what I do. He can follow his path and I will follow mine. I have learned alot about the bible since, and how many (holes) are in it and the contradicting it has, how can anyone follow that? I feel more at peace now within my self. We are told as a Catholic that our bodies are a temple. As I have learned with the wiccan religion it is the same! That the God and Goddess are within us! Hey Goth would love to celebate with you!! Party time!!!
