I recently read an article about crystals and crystallite structure. The article indicated that crystals have either, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, or 48 faces, naturally occurring in nature. I know Quartz for example has 6 faces, what would have 48?

Crystals with 48 faces are known as hexoctahedrons. They are very rare, and the only one's that I've come across, after some searching, are diamonds and garnets. ...hope this helps
