Dragon Deck. Cool experience: That I am nautral at it and I am right damn close to your reading as I can get and it comes true in some way. Tips: Believe in yourself and just trust your deck it will show you what you ask but maybe in a manner you never thought of. Always think out side the box. The info about the cards can mean way more than what they have written down.

I have 'The Olde Path' set of Tarot, given to me by a friend, before i even knew i was a witch, quess she knew alright....A good tip for beginners is to sit and meditate with each card....Images and feelings will come with each one and that way you will get a better understanding of your set and the readings you give out then by reading from a book that someone else wrote......Always pick the deck that calls to you, rather then rushing out and buying the first deck you come across....Verminda...

I've got Crowley's Thoth Deck, myself, though I've actually done more readings with the Ride-Waite. I do still consider the Thoth to be a superior tool, but I like the old-fashioned charms of the Rider-Waite too. I'm considering getting the Tarot de Marseilles for much the same reasons. ;D

I have the forest folklore, but I've never done a reading... at least so far, I haven't, though I really plan to do one at one point. I think the main thing that is keeping me from starting is that I haven't been able to find answers to my questions in books, ect. Maybe y'alls will be able to help me?
Can you use only the major arcana or the minor arcana, or should you mix them together? I would like to start with just the major arcana, but I'm not sure how it will effect the reading. Does the question have to be a yes or no question? Or can it be a question that would require a more complex answer?

Most people use the Major and Minor Arcana together, to my knowledge; to your second question, the type of spread you use will affect the answer you receive. I'd suggest just reading through the stuff in Angelis' post; it's a pretty good intro.

I have always wanted to do tarot readings but gave up before I started because the meanings did not stick in my brain. So I consider myself still VERY new at reading tarot, and I only have a Raider-Waite deck to learn on. Once I have the feel of the cards, I'll find a deck that calls to me. The first thing I did when I got this deck was panic. Once again, I found myself unable to remember the information. I still did not know where or how to begin knowing the cards. The info that comes with the deck I have, and other information I found, was confusing me. I was getting frustrated and was ready to give up. I decided that since the cards were new and hard to work with I would just shuffle the deck a few times to get it loosened up. Then sometime in the future when I was ready to try again, the deck would be easy to work with. Well, the more I shuffled, the more I started understanding the deck. I don’t know all the cards yet, but I’m on the right track. Then, I found this website www.learntarot.com/I have named this my “Learning the Tarot for Dummies” website. She has some very interesting thoughts and her explanations are easy for me to understand. She has lots of exercises for you to do, but she makes you do the thinking rather than telling you what to think. I hope some of this info can be useful to you.

Personally i never got too much out of a tarot deck. Like a random horoscope, anything that you can get will apply to everybody. Coincidences happen, of course. But I trust my intuition more on my future.

Well, for me, trusting in myself and trusting the reading I get have given me very positive experiences and verifiable readings for myself. I do understand that the cards cover just about every situation that you can think of, but that's the point. Coincidences do happen, but not consistently. That's why they are called coincidences. If I ask a question about money matters and the response I get was that a new love will come into my life, I know that I wasn't focused and that the reading didn't work for me for that question at that time. As weird as it seemed to me at the time, from the very beginning of my readings I always got a response that fit the question I asked. I have a record of every reading I ever did, and if something didn't make sense to me at the time, it did clear itself up later. (Like finding out that the dark cloud in my life at the time was actually my ex) But my 2 cents more is this. If you aren't interested in tarot, maybe there are other ways for you to divine for yourself if you are interested. I agree that I could live my life relying on instincts and intuition alone, however, being forewarned about things helps me look at a situation from all angles and if I choose, to make the most positive choice for myself, and again, these are my own views on things. I can get babbling... Sorry

i have that Llewellyn tarot set. came with a book and everything! i love em. i think they're gorgeous. the bag broke a while back. and I've been tying them in a bandanna like a hobo bag, which is also good to do the readings on. i also agree with Cheshire, whatever you get you can take that meaning and find it somewhere in your life. but i think that also helps you realize things about these areas, which can help you. but there are also the times when you get something totally strange and later to your surprise its true. i do readings at school during lunchtime ^^.

I have the Dragon Tarot with Peter Pracownik artwork. Take time with the tarot deck hold each card, look at the image and close your eyes visualise the card, sense what feelings you get with each card. It takes a long time to do tarot reading you can't just buy a set of cards and start reading straight as people think so don't worry if you can't 'get it' straight away.
