I'm not sure how many teenagers are on this board, but I was curious out of them (or when you were teenagers) if you were openly Pagan in school (wearing pentacles or the like etc etc)-I am and I get treated badly for it, I've lost friends and such...What are your thoughts? Blessed Be!

Friends come and go. I mean if they are your true friends they look past the pagan side of you and see who you are. Yes being a pagan makes you who you are making it in the world but should not make or break your friendships if it is they are not real friends. I mean hell noone messed with me nor bashed me for being pagan I was open about it and willing to talk and learn from anyone that had information or just another side or looking. But all in all my highschool days were quick so don't be afriad of looking past the idiots that are treating you that and enjoying highschool while you got a chance to. Cause once you hit the real world you look back sometimes and wish you did not rush it wanting it to all be over.

I would have to say sort of seeing as how I'm not a pagan I'm a Satanist. I for sure do not go around with a sign on my chest that says that.

caine; to be pagan only means that you do not follow the teachings of the God of Abraham. That path includes, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Baha'i.
Pagans are every one else including, Buddhist, Hindu, Wiccea, Satanists, Shamen, Druid or any other path you can name.
But to answer the question; when I was a teenager, no I did not wear any outward sign. My path came to me late in my teen years, but still in a time when you could get beat up for being a witch.

I never wore pentacles ( still don't, oooh except for a little pair of pentacle earings my friend bought me ) but I never hid my paganism if someone asked. It's just not many people ever asked ( they still don't ). It seems your beliefs are only really important to you and your real friends won't let if effect them in anyway.

I wore a small pentagram at school and was never ribbed for it ;D I wish that would happen for me! My pentagram isn't that big...but those who recognize it aren't happy...but no one really knows what my ankh means--so that's good... You all are very very right about my friends not -really- being my friends...but it's still kind of sad. They expect me to be tolerant to them and aren't to me.

I pick and choose who should know and shouldn't. Some people seem open about it or joke about it, but when it comes time for the real thing, they're not so friendly anymore. I don't like lying but if I can avoid direct questions I do. The fact is it never really comes up at school. Only my friends know. I think it's better that way.

i agree, school is hard enough without having people who barely follow the religion they claim as thiers make fun and go even further as to hurt a person for thiers.

I have open about being Pagan at school but even now after 5 years I still get the "Satanist", "Devil Worshipper" routine! I also lost a few friends when they found out I was Pagan! They weren't even friends if they leave me just because of my religion!

I am very open about my beliefs. If a peer asks my religion, I will admit to it, but I don't randomly point out to everyone person I meet that I am Pagan. My friends were fine with it. And my family got use to it. When ever I get the "Santanist", "Devil Worshippers" routine, I don't fight it, I simply try to explain it, if they refuse to listen, I don't care, let them live their life as fools. As for my friends, luckily, they understand, but if they didn't and left me because of it, they were never my true friends.

advice...if anyone ever calls you a satanist...dont tell them to keep an eye on thier children. that never ends well.
