From my own experiences, I don't believe that all "spirits" are of people. That's all I want to say.

Your very correct in that. From the sounds of things I'm willing to wager that you have encountered a shade at one point or another. Beings (creatures really) that only exist in the astral.

Well, I have a hard time believing in ghosts...or spirits or visions of the dead...I'm not sure what I encountered, but I have a pretty deep feeling that it wasn't connected to the dead. (Which I guess is what I should've said to begin with)

Somehow the message got cut off. This is an untouched photo of myself dancing with my Daughter at her wedding Saturday night. I had earlier in the day performed a Druid pray to the dead and as the day went on i felt my father's presence intensified. If you look in the top lefthand corner there appears to be a third spirit dancing with us. Could it be my Father? I feel it is.

as far as mediums, you can't trust them all. there is a book The Psychic Mafia by M. Lamar Kenne that confesses a lot a medium's tricks and traps. its really sick, they'd get literally thousands of dollars off people. but there are the ones that do it for good as previously stated. but i find it hard to believe someone could connect to the otherside that much. but thats just me. i believe there are many types of spirits. like astrals. some are dead people, either with souls and intention, or impressions in the energy from incidents from when they were alive. i think the spirits that communicate to us are either the spirits of the dead (with messages, don't know they're dead, or are disfunctional). but i think a bigger part of messages recieved can be of negative or positive entities unencarnated.

I had my dead Mother appear to me when I was 5. She died when I was 3. I have since been able to see "spirits". Some of them are of "dead" people, some of them are other forms of "spirits" that I don't know the proper names of, that I am sure only dwell on the astral level. I can hear the spirits as well, and have always been able to since I had my first encounter with the spirit of my Mother when I was 5.
Today I mainly work with the ancestors of those who have gone before me in the Santeria Lukumi religion. They have been walking with me since I was taught to put up an ancestor alter when I first became Santeria. These ancestors are the spirits of the priests and priestesses that have passed on that have willingly become Eggun, spirits that dedicate their afterlives to walking with the live practitioners of the Santeria religion, and in helping with their magical practises. It is amazing to me how much my religious ancestors guide me, and protect me and my family on a daily basis. I am so happy that I believe in them, and that I can see and hear them too. ;D

When you hear of mediums conversing with spirits, what do you believe these spirits to be?
I feel that mediums aren't real. You can connect with your ancestors and passed on loved ones, but not in the way they say they do. I feel most are a waste of time and money and that people should be wary of anyway saying they can assume the idenity of a dead loved one or that they can speak to them for you. Why should they be able to if you cant? You were the one they loved, not this random stranger taking you for a ride!
Do you think they are dead people? I think that most of the mediums out there are just good con-artists that know what lines to drop and what to say to get a reaction and your money.
Do you believe that mediums can communicate with dead people? erm, no

There is no doubt in my mind that some people can see and hear "spirits". Communicating however is something else.
I believe that there are three bodies. The physical body which functions on this plane of existance. It's born, it lives and it dies and then is no more.
The spiritual body, sometimes referred to as the higher self. It is the direct link with the divine force, the source, the energy. It is eternal and holds all the knowledge accumulated.
The astral body. The link between physical and spiritual. A conductor of information, influenced by both of the other aspects. Created directly from and of the energy for the purpose of providing that link. When the physical body dies, the astral body is no longer required and it's energy returns to the source.
Sometimes however, some or all of it's energy does not return. The reasons can be many. But suffice it to say it does happen. Without any link to a physical body or a spiritual body, the AB is left to repeat actions generally within a defined area. That's why many people refer to haunted houses and the "ghosts" as echo's of those long gone. It may be aware of outside stimuli and may react to it, but they can not initiate an action on their own. It is posible that someone who is sensitive to the vibrations of AB's can for a brief time form a link thus providing an AB a source of direction from a PB. However, as fear is generally the strongest emotion at the time, the actions of the AB are usually a reflection of that fear.

Im not quite sure what i believe spirits are yet but i have a few theories. One theory is that spirits are vibrations caused by dramatic events in the past or future which sensitive people pick up on. Two, that they are from parallel worlds when the veil has become thin like it does at Samhain. Three, that they are our own manifestations, basically that when we are in need or very emotional we manifest someone to help. Like i said im not sure. Im waiting untill i have an experience with spirits and then ill work it out.

I sometimes feel the presence of something around me and it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable but not completely. I think I might make myself believe it is a dead relative or someone important to me because I'm not scared but to be honest I'm not exactly sure what I truly believe.

In conversations of this type, "most" of us have never experienced anything directly and are going on supposition or a belief based on theory. That's why more and more these days I find myself not commenting on certain subjects. I often think when we give voice to our opinion that we are simply hoping to will our beliefs to be true.
