1. I do not need to draw a circle every time I want to say "Hello there, Goddess & God". 2. My 12 inch long Athame is not a necessary tool. It is impractical and could be painful if dropped on my foot. I'm getting rid of it. Anyone want it? 3. I can hold a ritual anywhere, without needing any tools. Even with just my mind. 4. I can create a spell anywhere, with anything. Even with just my mind. 5. I will not feel guilty that after 8 years, I still have to look up the meaning of each Tarot card. I was just not meant to be a diviner. I'm keeping the deck though. It's got pretty pictures. 6. I don't have to read the Bible to get a better understanding of Christians or counter their arguments and debates. It just isn't relevant to me. The only reason I have to read the Bible is to gain greater understanding of English and European classical literature. 7. I'm allowed to be angry when I'm pissed off. Anger can be positive - it can give the right kick in the pants to motivate you to make changes. 8. If I don't celebrate every one of the Sabbats, full moons, dark moons, and quarter moons I will not be struck by lightening. 9. I will not be a fundy-pagan and call all Wiccans white-lighters and fluffy bunnies. Note that I said "all." I reserve the right to use these terms for specific individuals who ARE fluffy and white-lighty. 10. I will choose both my words and my battles carefully.

I like that too. It's a down to earth ~ no nonsense approach I'm proud to say, I don't own an athame, a wand, a chalice, a boline or a robe (unless you count my DG!) Not that there's anything wrong with owning any of them, each to their own....I just don't feel they are necessary for me.

I used to have many tools.. and my parents *being their christian selves* took them away from me and said that Wicca would not be a part of my life anymore.. i told them they could take away anything they'd want.. but my beliefs would hold strong, and my will to learn grew larger. Though we may lack tools (that aren't necissary), we do not lack Faith or the knowing of our God(s) and Goddess(es). They've allowed me to keep my books though.. *drops down in mercy -THANK THE GODDESS!-*
Needless to say: I conduct rituals, outside and inside the home at times. All I need is myself, the God(s) and Goddess(es), and a willingness to learn/practice.

Well said Aiden. I would have to agree 120% with you. Even if we are given man made tools to use. Do not forget the biggest tool of them all. That is yourself.

Hey! I really liked that! Sounded a lot like me... I don't have any tools... maybe a dozen unsented tea candle thingies... and a really super small chalice and broom... but that's it... and I usually don't cast circles because I don't feel that I would be in any danger and all that stuff I really enjoyed it though... so true.

I have used tools and sometimes still do, but 9 times out of 10 it is not really in the best interests of my family to start casting circles naked in our backgarden as 1, the neighbours would probably complain and 2, there is a catholic church next door to our block of flats and i think they would have something to say, so while i do agree with you hedge and aiden i have to say that i do prefer to use tools but they are not necessary

Well said I have not done formal rituals for years except when I have been with others who would expect it.

I am glad to have found a site where I am not expected to perform rituals all the time. And to see that it is my beliefs that make me Wicca and not how much Magick I perform. I really liked that. It should be the Pagan version of 'the 10 Commandments' ;D
