I was born from a non-practicing Catholic and a Protestant. I grew up outside of any religious practice. After my parents divorce, I went to a Lutheran church and became very involved. I had my First Holy Communion, Catechism, Confermation... The whole nine yards. When I was 13 I entered classes to become an assistant pastor. I was almost through with them when I opened my eyes to the true sight of my religion. I was appalled at how my beliefs and theirs differed, and some of the things I found purely unethical the Church supported. I stepped back, told my Pastor that I needed some time to think things over. He was a great man, and knew exactly what I was going through.
Since then, I've been drawn to the idea of multiple deities and the freedom of expression. I haven't been able to go back to the Christan faith. I still attend church to see my little cousins preform, but I refuse Communion and don't stand for prayer. My Pastor, in his way, is happy for me.
