The first book I read was by Scott Cunningham that's when I became interested and wanted to know more. There are Wiccans around where I live, but they are unwilling to talk. I have learned the most from forums. I have been searching for thirteen years to find someone to talk to and forums were the only friendly places, where people really wanted to help and would answer questions. I had a favorite but that's a long story.

Scott Cunningham..............hmmmmmmm........
Scott only got involved in Pagan studies in the 70's. He chummed around with the likes of Ray Buckland and picked his brains on the subject of wicca. While he wrote a number of books on wicca and paganism, he's best known for removing the formality out of wicca, writing about it's concepts seperate from the religion that it is. At various times he was a member of a number of different covens of different traditions so he could learn what they had to offer. At some point he joined the Serpent Stone Family where it's suggested he attained a third degree. From what I can see, SSF was basically a Neo wiccan off shoot based on Cuninghams teachings, so it was an obvious fit. Interestingly, Silver RavenWolf also received a third degree within the same coven.
Obviously, I'm not a fan of Cunningham's, but I do give him credit for opening the doors to paganism, putting it in front of the public and aiding it to become what it is today.
