I'm very new to this. I'm readinga couple of books and I've bought a wand. I picked it up and it felt right. So,I had to buy it. Now, is there something I should do to "link" or "attatch" myself to it? Some kind of spell or ritual? ;D

Because you bought it, there is no doubt that it has been handled by others. There are a number of different ways to cleanse it and you should do a little research to see what feels right for you.
A google search will turn up any number of links.
From there, any tools should be kept close to you if possible. If not on you, then at least in sight and in your mind.
When using it, you should try to think of it not as a wand but as an extension of your hand, part of you.

Tools are important because they have the important property of focusing the conscious mind through their effect on the subconscious. Tools help us gently shift into the right mind state for performing spells and their symbology is heard loud and clear by the subconscious, contributing enormously to the task at hand.
As WS has pointed out - see your wand as an extension of you. Give it the same level of care and attention you would, hopefully, give yourself. As practitioners of magic our most important tool is ourselves and if we can't give our own bodies the care and respect they deserve then practicing magic really shouldn't be an option.
You will need to spend time with your wand outside of (and definitely before you attempt) any spell work.
Just sit with it in your hands, feel and see every millimeter of it, see it as a part of you. Do this every day, even if it's just ten minutes a day.

It is important to consecrate ritual tools. The ritual that I use can be downloaded from HERE once a tool has been consecrated it should ONLY be used for ritual purposes so don't go cutting your carrots up with your newly cleansed athame* also remember if you no longer wish to use an athame/other tool for ritual use you have to perform another ritual to purge the tool of it's built up energies and return it to mundane use. The consecration is undertaken under a full or waxing moon. Note* this may be different to some hedgewitches who use their tools in everyday use so that the tool can absorb their own energies during mundane use and so become more powerful and magical as time goes on, they just give it a simple cleansing before ritual use. Remember you can change the wording of the ritual to suit yourself as long as the main parts are there and as in most magic etc it is the 'intent that matters' BB

I don't know if you have already consecrated your wand but this site may be of some help with ideas to do just that. herbalmusings.com/consecration-wand.htmThere are no hard and fast ways to do this and the words used vary as well. Go with what you are comfortable with. I cleanse all my tools that I have bought.

Thank you. I haven't done it yet. I shall get some sandlewood inscence and give it a go. Do I need to cast a circle? If so, is there a simple way to do it?

I shall get some sandlewood inscence Do you use incense that your burn on a charcoal disc? I have a whole bag of sandalwood in it's natural form that is just sitting in my cupboard gathering dust bunnies. I detest the smell (my bf bought it 'cos he likes it but it seriously makes me feel ill) It's all yours if you want it, I don't mind posting it at all.

In trying to keep in line with the OP's question... Sorry if I am threadjacking but I think this pertains somewhat to the matter at hand... What about consecrating, cleansing, etc. a whole mass of tools including one's altar and the room it sits in? I have gone through quite a bit and took a loooooong break from doing anything except praying. I didn't even meditate :-( But I feel like I am starting over and I was wondering if there is a way to re-cosecrate a massive amount of tools. If not I will start out small, begining with the tools I use most often and the clease the other's as I use/need them.

Oshun11. If I'd had a break I'd cleanse everything at once. It would be a good way to mentally return yourself to the path. (even re-consectrating yourself) Just write a simple cleansing ritual of your own, take your time and perhaps work it all into a quiet Esbat celebration. I think the feelings of peace and power that you'd achieve from this would give you a very good starting point. Afterwards you could always do a more thorough cleansing of individual items as and when needed

I have wanted a wand for quite a long time, but I never found one that felt right, nor has nature ever given me one when I asked. I figure I'm just not meant to have one. I didn't think of this till just now... as a holistic pet healer (Reiki/Shiatsu/Essential Oils/Crystals), I now come to the conclusion that I was meant to use my hands as my wands. So I was wrong, I was gifted with two wands.
